This lesson plan aims to teach students about osprey migration by having them plot location data from osprey Mr. Hannah's migration route from the East Coast to Central and South America. Students will first manually plot the locations on a map and then use Google Earth to plot the same migration route. They will analyze the geography of the route and discuss osprey adaptations, reasons for migration, and ecosystems along the way. The lesson ties in New York state science standards around mapping skills, patterns and trends, life processes, and organism responses to the environment.
