Our Idea
Millie Long, Regina Coxen, Emily Watts
Introduction of Station
The format of our station is a contemporary hit radio
station targeted to 14-30 year olds. The station
includes a range of different music targeted to that
age genre but playing mostly new music which are in
the charts. It will be fairly similar to radio stations such
as Capital FM due to the genre of music which is
played on the station.
Explanation of Target
Listener
The target audience for our radio
station is fairly large around the age
of 14-30 year olds for both males
and females. But if it was based on a
specific listener they would be
female around 20 years old. This is
because the music which will be
played will suite that age range. The
girl will be interested in music and
clothes, but also loves socialising.
She will like all different artists but
mainly current artists who’s music is
in the charts.
Explanation of Playlist
The music which will be included to create a playlist
will be what’s new, the current charts and what
everybody loves at the time. The type of music will be
tracks such as:
• Rudimental: Waiting All Night
• P!nk: Just Give Me A Reason
• Calvin Harris: I Need Your Love
• Justin Timberlake: Mirrors
• The Saturdays: What About Us
• The 1975: Chocolate
Listeners Needs
The radio station will meet the listeners needs by giving
them what they want and keeping them involved.
They will keep the audience up to date with music,
letting them get involved by allowing them to request
songs, using young presenters who they can relate to
and enjoy, having competitions and using well known
people to get involved in the station.
Competition
Our station is very similar to Capital FM so this will be
our main competition. Our stations are very similar in
the way which it will include the same type of music
and also the target audience is the same. Ours will
differ in ways which the elements which are included
will be different such as we will have things about
news and weather. Also aspects such as the
presenters. Our station will hopefully appeal to a larger
audience including a variety of subjects making a less
specific audience.
Speech Content
Our speech content involves an introduction of us and
the content of the show. It involves forward promotion
to encourage the listeners to stay tuned. An example
of the speech content is below.
EXAMPLE
Good Editing
We used audacity to edit our podcast. We used
different editing techniques such as cutting out audio
what was not needed, fading in and out and adding
music. Below is an example of the editing.
EXAMPLE
Keeping Listeners Tuned
In
We will keep listeners tuned in by using forward
promotion this is phrases such as coming up or after
the break. This will encourage them to stay tuned so
they can find out more. An example of how we used
forward promotion is below.
