The paper discusses a novel approach combining the Forward Backward Time Stepping (FBTS) technique with Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) and Overset Grid Generation (OGG) for detecting buried objects and cracks in civil structures. This method, validated with a 5.22% numerical error in detecting buried concrete blocks, aims to improve structural health monitoring post-disaster, especially after incidents like the Sabah earthquake in Malaysia. The integration enhances image reconstruction, providing better quantitative information about the locations and properties of unknown objects underground.
