Editor's Notes

  • #1: PRAYER CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT ATTENDANCE GOODMORMING-TAP THE SHOULDER OF UR SEATMEATE
  • #2: How are you feeling today? Before we moved on to the next topic. In our previous discussion, what are the important ideas we had discussed? Okay, what can you recall about propaganda techniques? Very good, in other words, it aims to influence people’s opinions or behaviors. Okay, let’s have a game first.
  • #4: I will divide you into two groups and I will flash sets of pictures on the screen. The pictures have something in common, except one. Your task is to recognize which does not belong to the group. So, the group who have leading points will be the winner and will receive a prize. So, there should be one representative each group to raise the card and to answer the activity.
  • #5: Are you all ready?
  • #11: Give yourselves a good job clap! Did you enjoy the game? Do you find it hard spotting the odd one? Wow, very good. So, what have you noticed with our activity? Do they show similarities in characteristics and ideas? How? Going back to our activity.
  • #12: now, let’s be guided with our objectives so that at the end of the lesson…
  • #13: What does the girl in the first picture doing? How about the girl in the second picture? The girl in the third picture? The last one? Alright, from these four pictures, which does not belong to the group? Yes, that’s right. Removing the third picture. The left three pictures are all actions or verbs. Let’s form a sentence using the pictures. The girl loves dancing, singing and to play. The girl loves dancing, singing and playing. Which sentence is correct? Why? “Yes, very good observation! The second sentence is correct. Now, this type of sentence construction is called Parallel Structure. To improve the clarity of your writing, it is important to remember the equality of your sentence structure.
  • #14: To improve the clarity of your writing, it is important to remember the equality of your sentence structure.
  • #15: What do you mean by the word“parallel”? Yes. In geometry or math, it is two straight lines. But in grammar, parallel means similar, or to show something equal to. How about the word “structure”? Alright, in other words, it has a pattern. So, when we joined together these two words, parallel and structure, what does it mean? When you hear these words together, what comes into your mind? Okay, I got your point. So, in other words:
  • #20: -My sister walks and runs in the Plaza. What are the underlined words in the first sentence? Are they in similar pattern? How do you say so? Yes, very good. How about the second sentence? -She eats, sleeps and cries in her room. What are the underlined words? Very good, are they also in similar patterns? -Yesterday, Donna watched a movie, cleaned her apartment and made lunch. How about this third sentence? What can you say about the underlined words? Right, what are those? Yes, very good! Those are verb phrases. Are they in similar pattern? How? Yes! The words watched, cleaned and made are all in past tense form, that’s why this sentence is paralleled. -Romeo cooked the foods, washed the plates and watered the plants. What about this last example? What are the underlined words? Are they paralleled? Yes, very good. So, the first and second examples uses verbs and the third and fourth examples uses verb phrases. Do you understand, class? Who can give me one example of verb or verb phrases in paralleled sentence? Yes, correct. Thank you! Let’s move to the next.
  • #23: -Mark is an industrious and helpful boy. What are the underlined words? What can you say about this example? Very good. Therefore, this is paralleled. -Lea is polite and honest with her classmates. What are the underlined words? Are they paralleled?
  • #26: Maria loves dancing, swimming and singing. What are the underlined words? Alight, these underlined words are gerund. How about this one? Joshua enjoys playing volleyball, singing love songs and baking cakes. What are the underlined words?   Yes. These are gerund phrases. Is this paralleled? Why? Yes, very good. That’s what makes it paralleled. Do not break the format. And this one? I like skiing, ice skating, and hiking. What are the underlined words? What have you observed with all the underlined words? Yes, very good. Since the first word ends with –ing, therefore the rest following words should also ends with –ing to follow the pattern or structure.
  • #29: What are the underlined words? Does these sentences break the parallelism?   Very good! How about this one?
  • #32: What did you observe from the sentences? Alright. That’s correct. The actions starts with the word –to. Does it break the parallelism, even once? Okay, who can give me another example of infinitive parallel structure? Very good, Class. I can see that you really understand our topic. Isn’t it easy for you? You just have to follow the rules and do the same pattern in a sentence.
  • #39: Okay class, what did we discussed a while ago?     What is a parallel structure?     Very good, there are how many ways to use the parallelism?   And these are? Excellent! What are the benefits of using parallel structure in your writing skills as a student?     Who can give me just one example of a sentence applying the parallel structure?       Very good, Thank you. Is his example correct, class? I can sense that you really understand our lesson. Now, let’s have your last activity.
