Why Now? students are digital natives youths’ brains are different from adults students want to learn and do well digital cameras are ubiquitous

Installing the Batteries 1 .  Be sure the camera power is off 2.  Slide the battery cover lock in the direction of the arrow, and open the cover 3.  Insert the batteries as shown on the inside of the case 4.  Close the battery cover
Shooting and Playback Modes Shooting mode Playback mode If a printer is connected, images can be printed If the camera is connected to a computer, recorded images can be downloaded The lens retracts after approximately one minute
Shooting-The Basics 1.  Check that the camera is in Shooting mode. 2.  Turn the dial to AUTO 3.  Aim the camera at the  subject you wish to shoot 4.  Use the zoom lever to achieve the desired composition 5.  Press the shutter button  halfway 6.  Press the shutter button  all the way
Shutter Pressing Halfway Automatically sets the  exposure and focus Two beeps sounds when camera is finished metering Upper indicator will flash green or orange The lower indicator will blink yellow and the beep will sound one time if the subject is difficult to focus
Shutter Pressing Fully Pressing fully releases the shutter When the shot is complete the shutter sound is heard.  Do not move the camera until this is complete. The upper indicator blinks green while data is recorded onto the memory card The picture appears for approximately 3 seconds on the LCD monitor, if it is on
Optical Zoom vs. Digital Zoom Optical zoom is achieved by moving the lens closer to the subject of the shot which increases the magnification Digital zoom is accomplished through cropping an image down to a centered area while maintaining the same magnification Monitor this with the meter on the  LCD panel of the camera
 
 
 
 
 
 
Macro Mode Press the DISP button to turn on the LCD monitor Press the  button The icon appears on the LCD monitor Press the button again to switch modes Shoot the image
 
 
 
Shooting Mode Dial Use the shooting mode to switch between the settings AUTO – the camera automatically selects the settings Image Zone  – the camera automatically selects the settings according to the image composition type Creative Zone -the user selects exposure, aperture or other settings to achieve special effects
Shooting Mode Dial Image Zone Portrait-subject sharp, background blurry Landscape-landscape scenes Night Scene-human subject against night sky Fast Shutter-fast moving objects Slow Shutter-moving objects blurred Special SCN -8 scene modes available on screen Stitch Assist-shots to combine into a landscape Movie-sound and video
Shooting Mode Dial Special SCN Foliage-flowers, leaves, trees Snow-subjects against backdrop of snow Beach-scenes by the sea or on the beach Fireworks-fireworks shot clearly Underwater-use with waterproof case Indoor-indoor shots with fluorescent lighting Kids and Pets-subjects that move around Night Snapshot-subjects against night skies
Shooting Mode Dial Creative Zone Freely select the camera settings such as shutter speed and aperture value to suit your shooting purposes Aperture adjusts the amount of light that passes through the lens Shutter speed adjusts the speed of the image capture
Downloading Images to a Computer 1.   Use the supplied interface cable to connect the computer’s USB port to the camera’s DIGITAL terminal Slide the camera’s mode switch to playback Turn the power on Either copy the images from the SD card to your computer or move them from one to the other
