- 2. PDHPEWHY IS PDHPE IMPORTANT?PDHPE encourages, develops and instils an active lifestyle, promoting healthy growth and development, wellbeing, communicative skills and valuing the self and others. PDHPE integrates physical, Intellectual and Social learning.
- 3. Students learn the value of healthy food choices and recognise the consequences of a poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle.Understanding bodies, the similarities and differences, the needs of and how what goes in, (drugs, medication, diseases) affects how the body performs and reacts.
- 4. PDHPE is not primarily a physical or ‘sports’ education, but rather focuses on the students development as a whole. This subject invests in every aspect of the student – recognising physical, social and emotional growth. Students are able to develop problem solving skills, communicate more effectively and negotiate the needs of others with their own; encouraging empathy, resiliency and the acceptance of diversity and difference.
- 5. PDHPE fosters inclusiveness and diversity; supporting cultural and social awareness.The PDHPE classroom encourages“GAMESENSE”, student-centred learning, valuing personal knowledge and inspiring self-motivated learning. All lessons are inclusive, regardless of ability.
