Pencil Animation Tutorials
In this lesson all we are going to do is draw a simple background and make a
animation on a bouncing ball. This may sound stupid but everyone who does
animation does something like this when learning Frame by frame animation.

Step 1: Open the folder "pencil" and click on "pencil"

Step 2: Click on the vector layer and go to "LAYER" and click on "DELETE CURRENT
LAYER"
then go back to layer and click on "NEW BITMAP LAYER" now you should have two
bitmap layers down the bottom. double click on the bottom layer where it says
"bitmap layer" and rename it "Background" this will be your background layer.

Step 3: Select the pencil from the Tools on the left and select the size as 11.8 and
choose your colour from the selection on the right of your screen. now go to display
which is on the left hand
of your screen and click on the end one

this is what you are looking for

Step 4: Click back on your background layer it should now be highlighted blue and
draw a line in
the drawing area like the one shown bellow.

I have also drawn a sun and a cloud just to make it look more colourful and to fill in
the cloud all i did was select the bucket tool from the tools

Now you all you have to do is click on the keys: + plus sign this makes it a frame
you should now see that the background layer has 2 frames and the bitmap layer only
has one.

Step 5: click back on the bitmap layer. it should now be highlighted blue.

Now all we are going to do is draw a simple round ball in the top right hand conner of
the drawing area.
make sure you have the 1st onion skin selected this will help you
when drawing the next ball your picture should look like this:

if it looks like this and you have the bitmap layer selected and your happy with it click
on the keys: + plus button.

if it doesn't look like that or you have it on the wrong layer use the erase tool and
start again.

Step 6: keep on drawing the ball going down and pressing the keys + button every
time you have drawn a new one and after the ball has reached the top of the right
hand corner you have finished.

Step 7: Save and export. first save your animation and then export the animation as
a movie file if you are on a mac by going to "FILE" export as "MOVIE"

if you are on a windows or linux operating system you will not be able to export as a
movie you will have to export it as a flash/swf file by going to "FILE" then "EXPORT"-
"EXPORT AS FLASH"

You can play your animation by pressing the play button which situated in the right
hand corner of the screen but remember to take onion skin off when playing and to
play it when the bitmap is selected.
