The document analyzes the performance of two direction of arrival (DOA) estimation algorithms, MUSIC and ESPRIT, used in adaptive array smart antennas for mobile communication. It concludes that the MUSIC algorithm is more accurate and stable, providing higher angular resolution compared to the ESPRIT algorithm; thus, it is more suitable for practical applications in mobile communication. Simulation results demonstrate that both algorithms' performance improves with more elements in the array and larger signal snapshots, but MUSIC consistently outperforms ESPRIT in DOA estimation accuracy.
