What is MANET?
INTRODUCTION
DESTINATION SEQUENCE DISTANCE VECTOR ?
• Is a proactive or table driven routing protocol
• Developed by C.Perkins in 1994
• Bellman ford algorithm
• Each node in the network maintains a routing table including :
a) the next hop
b) the metric
c) the sequence number
PROBLEM STATEMENT
For larger network, it is difficult to
maintain routing table because all
nodes in a network maintains
table, it leads to overhead which
consumes more bandwidth.
OBJECTIVES
• To study the DSDV routing protocol.
• To modify parameter number of nodes in DSDV.
• To analyze and evaluate DSDV performance in terms of throughput,
packet delivery ratio and end to end delay.

Editor's Notes

  • #3: Performance DSDV ROUTING PROTOCOL IN different number of nodes using omnet++
  • #5: MANET is a system of mobile nodes connected with each other via wireless medium without infrastructured support Infrastructureless network: no fixed base station and mobile nodes can move while communicating. All the nodes present act as routers. Infrastructureless network also called Ad-hoc network which forms temporary networks. In this type of network nodes are portable devices such as mobile phones and laptops. MANET have few of important characteristics which including dynamic topology, bandwidth-constrained, links, energy constrained operation and limited physical security. hence, the routing protocols for wired networks cannot be directly used for wireless networks advantages of MANET : provide access to info and services regardless geographic area transmission range : It is defined by the maximum distance a node can send its data to.
  • #6: Metric – number of hop to reach destination
  • #7: When more number of nodes, it can lead to routing overhead which consume more bandwidth because all nodes in network maintains table so its difficult to maintain routing table for larger network. LR 2015 – advantages of DSDV, Avoid extra traffic, reduce the amount of space in the routing table
  • #11: A node updates a routing table entry if it receives a better route. A better route is one that has a higher sequence number, or a lower hop count if the sequence number is the same.
