This document summarizes research on the performance of a direct injection diesel engine using blends of Karanja oil (a non-edible plant oil) and diesel at different injection pressures. The engine performance was tested for blends containing 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40% Karanja oil, as well as for pure diesel. Test results showed that brake thermal efficiency increased with higher injection pressure, while brake specific fuel consumption decreased. Blends containing up to 20% Karanja oil performed similarly to pure diesel at an injection pressure of 190 bars, without needing engine modifications. In conclusion, Karanja oil blends up to 20% can be used as an alternative fuel for direct injection diesel engines.
