Abwenzi pa Za Umoyo (APZU) is a Malawian sister organization to Partners in Health that was invited to Neno by the Malawi government in 2006 to strengthen the health system by building hospitals, renovating health centers, and providing free primary care. The organization employs 850 individuals, including over 600 village health workers, and operates under challenging conditions with limited resources. From June 2008 to July 2010, Neno district hospital reported significant patient encounters, including 34,400 registered patients and 68,000 outpatient encounters.
