 Neptune is known for its deep blue color, but
it is actually purple.
 Neptune was named after the Roman God of the
Sea.
 Neptune spins around once every 16 hours and 7
minutes. (1 day)
 It take Neptune 165 years to orbit the sun once.
 Neptune has 13 moons and 2 dark spots.
 It is made out of gas and there is no water on the
planet.
 Neptune is very cold. It is 10 times colder than a
freezer.
Planet presentations
 Mars has 2 moons.
 No person has ever gone to Mars.
 Mars is cold all the time.
 A long time ago people thought there was an
ocean on Mars.
 Scientists are looking for life on Mars.
 Mars is red.
 Some people think Mars is far away, but it is
not far away.
 Mars is the fourth planet from the sun.
Planet presentations
 Venus used to be called “morning star.”
 Venus’ mountain is the same height as Earths
biggest mountain.
 Venus has some landforms.
 It is 870 degrees F.
 Venus is Earth’s sister.
 The sun makesVenus hot.
 Venus has no moons.
 Scientists have trouble getting a close look at
Venus because of clouds.
 Venus’ spinning makes the sun set or rise.
 One day inVenus lasts as long as 243 days on
Earth.
Planet presentations
 Mercury is a small gray planet.
 It is the planet closest to the sun.
 Mercury looks like Earth’s moon.
 Mercury has no moon.
 You cannot breathe on Mercury.
 Thousands of years ago the Greeks thought
that Mercury was a travelling star.
 It takes 365 days or one year to move around
the sun.
 No one has ever seen the other side of
Mercury.
 There is different kind of gravity on mercury
than on the moon.
 Mercury is one of the smallest planets in the
solar system.
 Craters on Mercury were made millions of
years ago.
 You would weigh less on Mercury than on
Earth.
Planet presentations
 Saturn is the 6th planet from the sun.
 Other planets have rings, but Saturn has the
most rings.
 The rings orbit around the planet.
 Saturn’s moons are made of ice. No one can
skate on Saturn’s rings.
 Saturn has more than 30 moons.
 Sometime the wind blows 1,100 miles per hour
on Saturn.
 Saturn spins like a top.
 The days are very short. One days on Saturn
only lasts about 10 hours.
Planet presentations
 It takes 84 Earth years for Uranus to spin
around the sun.
 Uranus has more than 27 moons.
 Miranda is one of Uranus’ moon. The largest
moon isTitania.
 Uranus looks like it is rolling on its side.
 Uranus has craters, long marks, broken
rocks, and giant cliffs.
 The ocean on Uranus is gas that turned into
liquid.
Planet presentations
 Jupiter is made of liquid and gases.
 On Jupiter wind blows as fast as 640 miles per
hour.
 From Earth, Jupiter looks like a star. If you
look up at the sky at night and see a bright
ball it is the planet of Jupiter.
 Jupiter has many storms.
Planet presentations
 Earth is about 93 million miles from the sun.
 Earth is where we live.
 The blue on our planet is water.
 To someone in space the Earth looks blue.
This is because water covers most of Earth.
 Someone in space may also see green and
brown land.
