This document discusses whether multitasking improves productivity. While multitasking allows people to handle multiple tasks at once, it does not mean that more tasks are getting completed. Instead, multitasking spreads attention too thinly across tasks, which can decrease both productivity and quality. Employers asking employees to multitask often leads them to focus less on their main tasks, reducing productivity over the long run. Multitasking also reduces the quality of family time and final work products as full attention is not given to any one task. Overall, fully focusing on one task at a time is more efficient and leads to increases in both productivity and quality of life.
