- 5. Developers Robert Langs Dell Hymes Contradicted Chomsky’s theory on what Competence referred to. He coined the term Communicative Competence. He developed the Communicative Approach in the 1970s. This Approach replaced Situational Language Teaching.

- 10. Conclusions Communicative Approach proposes communication as an instrument to be used to teach a target language through oral interacction. The function of language is the core of the process of teaching a target language. Communicative competence is the final goal. Contextualization is required to make the participants realize the function of language. The psychological and sociological perspectives are of great importance because every student is a human being, and needs to be treated as such.
