THREE
TECHNOLOGICAL
BLOGS
How-To Geek
It is a blog in which you can find out things like: how to
remove hyperlinks from Microsoft Word Docs, review
products, play a ton of free games, etc. All this is on the same
site.
GigaOM
 If you’re looking for what’s next, look no further.
News and analysis on Web 2.0, technologies and
startups, social media, gaming — you name it,
GigaOM has it covered.
ZDNet
 ZDNet was founded in 1991, formerly on CompuServe and Prodigy, ZDNet was
purchased in 2000 by CNET (CBS Interactive), and reports on a variety of tech
news. While they focus heavily on the usual suspects (Apple, Microsoft,
Google), ZDNet also features product reviews, software downloads and tons of
news and analysis on tech businesses and issues.
THREE
BUSINESS/FINANCIAL
BLOGS
Econbrowser
 In this blog, the authors cover many macroeconomic issues in an
understandable and straightforward manner. The topics are divided by
authors. First, Chinn focuses on public policy, and he frequently writes about
current topics like the economic impact of stimulus spending and the deficit
debate. Then, Hamilton’s key topics include business cycles, monetary policy
and oil economics, the last of which has made Hamilton a must-read as of late.
Dealbreaker
 The site is run by Bess Levin, a humorist cum reporter who has successfully
managed to turn Wall Street's biggest names into cartoon characters — and into
her most loyal readers. The articles may be laced with humor, but beneath all
that wit lays a remarkable truth that often cuts closer to reality than more sober
news reports. Bess's trick is that she's not laughing at Wall Street; she's
laughing with them. Nonetheless, Dealbreaker is always good for a quick laugh
in the middle of the day or even a penetrating insight into the way Wall Street
thinks.
Calculated Risk.
 The site provides concise and very accessible summaries of all the key economic
data and developments. One of the reasons McBride is able to do this so well is
that he has an almost uncanny knack of recognizing which facts really matter.
He began the blog in 2005 because he saw a disaster brewing in the form of the
housing bubble, and tried his best to warn the rest of us of what was coming.
THREE
ENTERTAINMENT
BLOGS
Brownstoner.
 Brooklynites are famous for their borough-love, which is totally in
evidence at Brownstoner, a staggeringly comprehensive look the goings
on across the bridges. Real estate, arts, news, parties, festivals, food,
shopping, politics, gossip: its all Brooklyn, all the time, at this New York
news blog.
Brooklyn Vegan.
 More in-depth coverage of the local indie-music scene than you can
possibly absorb, but still, it's fun to try with this NYC news
entertainment blog. The Brooklyn Vegan not only has NYC news and
alerts about upcoming shows, he also posts tons of photographs and set
lists from shows past, and discusses CD / MP3 / podcast / online video
and streaming releases.
Time out New York.
 When choosing the best NYC entertainment blogs, you want
comprehensive listings? You want reviews of everything with attitude?
You want tons of ideas about what to do, what to eat, what to see, where
to go, tonight, tomorrow, this weekend? You want the Time Out New
York NYC blog.
WEB-BASED
COLLABORATION
TOOL
Google Docs
 A Google doc is a very useful web-based collaboration tool. It allowed me to edit my
documents and save them directly to my drive. This prevents me of losing my documents
if my computer breaks up, and I forget to save it on a USB. Also, this tool ends with the
barriers of geography. Even though my classmates are not in the same place in which I
am, I can do or edit a paper in team using this tool. My team and I will be able to edit the
paper at the same time, and we will be able to see the different changes and comments
that the others are doing. Also, this tool allows me to convert my work to different
formats like .docx, .pdf, .odt, .rtf, .txt o .html. Finally, using Google docs, I can save all the
different drafts that I could made along the path because it did not have a limited space.
LINKEDIN
LinkedIn
 As a student, one of the main advantages that I found from using LinkedIn is the
professional connections that you can create using it. By connecting with professionals I
build a very serious network of people where I can release news and other important
aspect of my business. Moreover, while using LinkedIn I can find job postings where
companies are hiring people in my position. Finally, by using LinkedIn I can increase my
social networking with various people across the globe. In this way, I can start my own
company page where other news or announcement can be posted.
