What’s This All About?
SOUL meets JAZZ Tour will bring together the largest names in soul and jazz music, reminding fans
across the country that almost every style of American music has been influenced by jazz.
Throughout time, soul music and jazz have mixed and mingled on inner-city street corners, music
halls, churches and on numerous gold and platinum records. Indeed, soul and jazz music are true
American originals that tell the story of our past. SOUL meets JAZZ Tour will carry on this tradition
as we live the next chapter in American history.
SOUL meets JAZZ Tour series will kick off in Orlando, Florida with a presentation by jazz guru
David Benoit, and soul goddess, Amel Larrieux.
SOUL meets JAZZ Tour will be covered by all major media outlets including Entertainment
Tonight, E! Entertainment, The Insider, Access Hollywood, MTV, VH1 and the BET JAZZ
Network.
Major print and web magazines, satellite radio and pod casters will also cover the tour. Additional
support will be provided through major cooperate sponsorship.
SOUL meets JAZZ Tour will also be filmed by Murphy Boyz Entertainment for use in film, DVD
and Internet content. The tour’s audio and artist interviews will be released through Sands Street
Music.

The Artists:

AMEL LARRIEUX
She’s hot. She wrote a song and created a demo tape, which led to
her pairing with Bryce Wilson to form the duo Groove Theory. As
lead siren and co-writer for the group, Amel enjoyed success with
"Tell Me," which broke the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 and
the top five on the R&B charts before being certified gold in
October 1995.
Amel recently released her third solo album, Morning (Bliss Life
Records) on April 25, 2006. Amel fuses a range of genres – R&B,
soul, hip-hop, jazz and folk, with flashes of Middle Eastern, West
African, and Indian styles. Inspired by a friend who felt "tired of
having to be strong," Amel wrote the first single "Weary" for hardworking single people all over.

REBBESOUL
RebbeSoul infuses cutting-edge world beat with the influence of his
Hebrew roots. As an artist, he has been featured in BILLBOARD,
on CNN INTERNATIONAL, National Public Radio (NPR),
interviewed on the CBC of Canada and MTV's GABAREAU
LIVE, named to MUSICAL STARSTREAMS TOP
20.RebbeSoul brings a new voice to the sometimes-stagnant realm
of Jewish music. He blends jazz, rock sensibilities, world-fusion
stylings and traditional Hebrew melodies to create a sound that is
ageless yet completely progressive.
RebbeSoul’s latest album, Change The World With A Sound,
shows RebbeSoul moving to the next level musically - mixing
Mizrahi chant and electronic beats with the signature
jazz/funk/folk/ethnic rock style that his audience has come to
know and love.RebbeSoul is known to say that "music is the
common language" in an increasingly troubled world. Upon
listening to Change The World, one can hear that he is becoming
more fluent in that universal language with each passing day.

GINA DARBY
Meet recording artist Gina Darby - a Gary/Chicago native and
former Miss Black Teenage World. A woman of God who has
found her purpose in His will - the encouragement, inspiration and
edification of others by way of her lyrics and voice - her music and
spirit. Gina possesses a dynamic vocal talent barely contained within
her 5'1'' frame. She has come into her own, having developed a
smooth-as-satin style that rolls along like thirsty waves lapping at
the shore, but also deftly rocks like the intense waves produced by a
summer's storm.
In this, her first solowriting/producing venture, entitled "One
More Day", Gina delivers twelve memorable tunes that resonate
within the spirit and mind of the listener. The excitingly broad
range of music styles she employs is purely captivating.

JULIE DEXTER
Born and raised in Birmingham, England of Jamaican parents, Julie
Dexter is a world-renowned singer / songwriter who has won
numerous international awards. A classically trained musician who
writes, arranges, composes and produces, Julie is considered by many

Deeply influenced by legends such as Abbey Lincoln, Billie Holiday
and Nancy Wilson, as well as popular icons such as Omar and Sade,
Julie takes classic soul to the heart of artistry.
For the past four years Julie Dexter has spent the millennium
sharing the stage with this generation's cutting-edge soul artists,
including Jill Scott, Bilal, Amel Larrieux, Donnie, Omar, Jaguar,
Rachelle Ferrell, and Fertile Ground, to name a few.ハ While Julie
Dexter is more than able to hold up against her peers, her music has
also been praised by them.ハIn time the world will hold Julie Dexter
in the same regardsハas those stellar artists who regard her well.

BILAL

His debut album, 1st Born Second (Moyo Music/Interscope, 2001),
is a collection of songs entirely by the artist himself, right down to
the music, lyric, and note. His single "Soul Sista" appears on the
Love and Basketball movie soundtrack. In addition, Bilal sang the
hook on Common's "The 6th Sense" with neo-soul singer Jill Scott.
He also scats and plays keyboards. Bilal has appeared on Common's
Like Water for Chocolate, Guru's Jazzmatazz Street Soul, and has
written and produced for the likes of Erykah Badu. Bilal, the same
musician who has called jazz "the original booty shake," is also
known for heaping Truth in his music.

exploration of many different art forms on the American landscape.
A five time Grammy nominee for his extraordinary and seminal
contributions to contemporary jazz, Benoit has also embarked on a
multi-faceted journey into the classical music world.
This has led to guest pianist and conductor spots with numerous
top symphonies and philharmonics, four performances at Carnegie
Hall (including one with Maestro Leonard Bernstein), a
performance on the steps of the Capitol Building with the National
Symphony for the annual PBS July 4th event, and the creation of

with influences of today. His music, which appeals to young and old

names on both sides of the Atlantic.

winner whose songwriting credits include ''The Christmas Song
(Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire)". His mother, Janette Scott and

MINOR NOTES
In their relatively short careers, this teenage jazz quartet, Minor
Notes, has already started to earn the respect of jazz legends across
the country. Unforgettable performances, impeccable timing and
clever instrumentation, Minor Notes brings us the next generation

Taddeo are continuing to further their studies by attending the
renowned Orange County High School of The Arts while also
working under the guidance of David Benoit, Evan Stone, Alfonso
Johnson, Jeff Clayton, Carmen Bradford, Bijon Watson, Jeff
Hamilton and Alex Acuna. With this dedication to their craft,

continually singled them out as "a smash act in the making".
The Washington Projects have an uncanny ability to paint incredibly

Hip-Hop music. Their live set is one to be reckoned with. The heart of
their music is vintage and everlasting, and this groups sound will usher
in the storm that will change the next generation of music.
