1. Start of a Project
First of all, before start of any project,

Close All
How to add a new project
Look at Right side “add” option/click that option, you will have a new project window
2. Creating EPS and OBS
EPS-Departments
Next
Enter the Project ID and Project Name
Project Start and End Dates (Don’t enter the finish date during first entry)
Select Projectright clickopen project

WBS
If you want to see the details of an activity at the bottom side,then
ViewShow on BottomActivity Details
Whenever you open the Activities Screen, WBS Will be there. We have to open the “WBS”

3. Define new Activity
Don’t put any Activity ID (It will automatically assign ID)
If your activities are not shown, then Click LayoutOpen Click “NO”Click 2 weeks

Original duration is plan duration. When activities are changing
Click “Activity ID”Then you will come to Know
To change the duration of the activity “double click” the duration and change.
Relationships:
Select the activity
Predecessor (Bottom Side)
AssignDouble Click
Then don’t close the window.
Just Click the activity and double click on the right side of “predecessors”
4. Calendar:
EnterpriseCalendarSelect the Days and Click Non work, Leave etc.,
Work Week-Hours can be mentioned. If you enter “0”, it will be a non-work.
Enterprise Enterprise Structure  Create a new enterprise structure (EPS)  Create Sub title.
EnterpriseOBSAdd the Organizational Breakdown Structure.
If you want to change the start date of project then enterpriseProjectsDates you can change
the Date
If you want to change the calendar under “defaults” you can change the calendar.
If you want to insert a Calendar

Assigning of Resource in the following categories to be followed in Primavera
Manpower - Labor
Machines - Non Labor
Materials - Materials
 Management Personnel is not to be entered in Resource
Lead and Lag to be adjusted
Negative Number is “Lead”
Positive Number is “Lag”
There is only In “Lag” Column. So we can use lead and lag
Activities:
Four types of predecessor are as below
Finish to Start, Finish to Finish, Start to Start, Start to Finish

10. Assigning of labor
If you want to assign multiple labor, then you can do it in two ways as follows
Addition Method Labor-Labor-Labor-Labor-Labor
Change of unit- 8 Hrs /Day x Multiple of 5 Times 40 Hrs/Day
Suppose if rate is changing for some resource like labor rate is changing from Jan-2018 then
Select Resource Add (Bottom side) Change the price from the effective date
Suppose you assigned some rate like: Electrician 12 SAR/Hr. Later you found that rate is 18 SAR/Hr.
You change the rate in Resource then

11. Presentation of Cost Details
You have to create a column as below
Budgeted Labor Cost
Budgeted Material Cost
Budgeted Non-Labor Cost
Budgeted Total Cost
So we have activities wise cost, WBS Wise and Total Project also.

13. FiltersView Filters
(Critical Path—Longest Duration of the Activity)
To create a new filter
Enter filter name
Where Condition is “equals or more than 10”
Click “Ok”,
Click “Apply”
Then you can see the activities which are more than 10 days.
14. Milestone
Define Milestone Activities
General TabSelect Milestone Start or Finish
Add Predecessors also
Then go for “Schedule”
If you do any change in Relationship, new activity addition, you have to reschedule it. Then only it
will be shown in the effected project.
22. If you want to change the activity in between two activities enter the next activity ID after the
Activity ID. Then it will create next activity.
15. Entry of Non-Uniform Resource
If you want to enter non-uniform resources
EnterpriseResource Curvesallows you to control non-uniform resources.

16. Baseline
Baseline schedule is the approved schedule by the management after the discussion with all the
interrelated and intra departments. This Baseline Schedule is done after round of Discussion
PM-Always go with Max.Duration/Max Resources
But Management always try to squeeze the project schedule.
We can do “Re- baseline” if required.

“Export” and “Checkout” are almost same.

While saving the name delete the “*”and then save it.
Import:
Importing the data from a project
Checked in & Checked Out
If you checked out a project means you can’t modify it until you checked in.
You can modify after checked in only
When you export a project means you are sending to somebody for review and modify
But for Checked out means only for view and no modification.
18. Layout (Screen wise settings for WBS, Activities)

You can do some bar chart changes to highlight some areas for presentation.
20. To Add a new field:
Enterprise  User defined fields
Resources (For Iqama Numbers) - Type Iqama Number and Close It.
Then go to Enterprise Resources Right Click
Column and Add Iqama number. Now you can enter your Iqama Number.
If you want to add some performance Indicator then you go to
Enterprise  User Defined Fields

Then Insert Column

21. Reflections during Changes:
If you want to change something in the project by another person, then reflection can be used.
EnterpriseProjectSelect Your ProjectRight ClickCreate ReflectionOk.
Review Changes done-Accept or Reject, then Make it in original BL Schedule.
Then you will find a project with question mark.
EnterpriseSelect the ProjectMerge Changes-Select or Deselect Bottom Side (Merge Changes)
Then Merge Changes Completed.
Activity Steps:
If you want to check Main activity, Sub-Activity for understanding purpose.
Bottom SideRight Click Click All
Select Steps Add Sub Activities as you want
% Completion:
Select “Physical % Complete” and Insert this new Column to show the Completion %, We can show
the physical %.

Check % based on Activity Steps
Step Weight:

To incorporate step weight according to your requirements

You can select based on %
Expenses:
Indirect Cost like Travel Allowances, Party Expenses
You can add these cost in Budgeted Expense Cost like Party Expenses.

Remarks, can be added based on meetings, advice in each meeting.
NotesAddSelect some syllable in like Status Report etc.
Then add the notes as per requirements.
If you want to show, multiple resources go to Insert Column, Select Lists and Select
Resources, then you can see the resources.
If you want to “add” some Note category you go to

You can add the new syllable as you want.
23. Project Risk:
RiskMay Happen in future

Project Issues you can add notes according to the review meeting and in General tab you can assign.
The responsible person using OBS (Organization Breakdown Structure)- Set the Priority- as per the
risks quantum may be like top, normal etc.
You can assign the risk in WBS wise also.
Thresholds:
Setting the limits
Like if nay project is delayed start or delayed completion beyond the planned date, then create an
issue.

Then Select “Run”Button Right Side
Then go to “Issues” to see the generated issues according to threshold value you have given.
24. Other Basic Details:

You have to enter the impact according to the Risks.

report.
You can save it in “pdf” format also. Click print and save the file in pdf format

Thresholds: Setting the limits Like if nay project is delayed start or delayed completion beyond the planned date, then create an issue.
