**Primary and Secondary Sources**
Primary and secondary sources are two key types of information used in research and analysis.
**Primary sources** are original, first-hand accounts or evidence created during the time under study. These include documents such as diaries, speeches, photographs, official records, newspaper articles from the event, and artifacts. For example, a letter written by a soldier during World War I is a primary source because it provides direct insight into the experiences of that time.
**Secondary sources**, on the other hand, interpret, analyze, or summarize primary sources. They are usually created after the fact and offer context or commentary. Examples include textbooks, biographies, documentaries, and scholarly articles that review or discuss primary data.
