Problem solving
- 3. My computer breaks • If my computer breaks it is going to very difficult to fill in PowerPoints and do other documentation things, however I am still going to be able to do them on my phone it is just going to take me a lot longer and it will be much harder. However, this would also mean that I would have to record everything on my phone, so the quality, the audio quality and the editing quality would drop a massive amount which would affect me a lot but using a phone would be my only other option since college is not going to be open.
- 4. The internet stops working • If my internet stops working then I should be okay because I can upload it all to the internet when I get back to college at some point, however I am not going to be able to submit any work or upload anything. However, it will be difficult for me to download stuff that I will need for editing, I would have to hotspot one of my family members phones and hope that they have not run out of data because my phone doesn’t have any 4G signal where I live.
- 5. Storage • To avoid crashing problems I am going to be saving my work every few minutes so that if it does crash I haven’t lost a lot of stuff. I am also going to make sure that I have a folder for everything that I use when editing so I don’t accidently lose assets that I use for editing and then some footage goes missing. • To make sure that I don’t run out of storage I am going to make sure that I check my drive before I start filming and I am going to clean it out and run a health check on it to make sure that it isn’t going to fail. I am also going to keep everything on the SD card so I have a backup for if it does fail.
- 6. Camera battery runs out • If my camera battery runs out, I will have to get a spare. I currently don’t have a spare battery so I will need to buy another one. However, I am not sure if I am going to be able to buy another one so if my camera battery runs out then I am going to have to bring a charger and plan where I can charge it when it runs out, for example, we could stop in a café and I could find a plug somewhere and charge it. The battery lasts around 3 hours of on time so I should be able to do a days' worth of filming and have the battery not die.
- 7. If I can’t work from home • If I can’t work from home then I am going to have to make a plan of how I am going to do all the work in a short period of time at college. Because of Covid-19 we can’t go into college and we have to work from home so it is going to be hard to work around and it is going to be my only solution. I will have to plan how I am going to speed through all of my work at college because it won't be open for very long but that's the only place that I would be able to work.
- 8. My camera breaks • If my camera breaks, then I am going to have to use my phone. This will give my shots better stabilization than my camera, but it will also mean that the quality isn't as good, however, I could make the shots look just as good if I use the right lighting. I could also use my friend's camera instead if my camera breaks because they have a camera which is better than my phone camera which I'm allowed to use.
- 9. I don't have access to any filming lights • If I don't have access to any filming lights when it comes to production, then I am going to struggle a lot with filming because a lot of my dark shots are going to reply on clever lighting and using LEDs rather than natural or yellow light. I also need powerful LED lights so that it doesn't look like a spotlight. I would instead have you use natural light the best I can and film more on overcast days to get the correct type of lighting. I can also use natural light through curtains to get a darker version and change where the light is going and how harsh it is.
- 10. I don't have access to my audio equipment • If I don't have access to my audio equipment, then I am going to use my phone microphone to record all my audio. This is because my phone audio is very good, and I could use EQ and other post processing audio filters to make it sound a lot better and it might be very similar than using my normal microphone.
- 11. Covid-19
- 12. We go into another lockdown • If we go into another lockdown then I am going to have to do as minimal filming as possible because a lot of my filming is going to have people in it and I won't be able to
- 13. Me or somebody working on the project gets covid-19 • If this happens than I will have to stop production and filming and stay at home and isolate for 2 weeks. Whilst this is happening, I will not be able to continue in filming and I will have to work with all the footage that I have got meaning that I will have to rush to complete the rest of the filming after the 2 weeks isolation.
- 14. We all must follow social distancing • If we all must follow social distancing which means that I will have to keep all the actors at a distance, meaning that a lot of my shots that I am going to have plans are going to have to be moved around so that nobody is close to anyone else is any of the shots. I will have to keep changing camera angles to make it look like they're stood closer together than they are.
- 16. Where I am working from changes • If where I am working from changes then I am going to have to make sure that I have a way of moving my work from computer to computer. The different places that I could potentially be working from all have premiere and they all have access to the internet. So, I could render out all my work at the end of working each day so that I can take the video off one drive and continue to edit the rest of it somewhere else. I could also move all my files and everything that I am using onto one drive every time that I have finished using it so that I can have all my work with me no matter where I am working from.
- 17. I lose access to photoshop and premiere pro • If I lose access to photoshop and premiere pro, then I will have to find different alternatives to use. As a photoshop alternative I will use photopia. I will use this because it is almost identical to photoshop except that it is online. It can even read photoshop files which means that I can work as normal as if I was using photoshop the only thing is that I would have to learn different key shortcuts. For my premiere alternative I am going to use DaVinci resolve as it is free. I will struggle with a lot of color grading since it doesn't have the same coloring tools as premiere, but I should still be able to do a lot of the basic stuff that I need to do.
