The students researched bridge designs and made a plan before building the base and parts of their bridge. After initially failing a test with dictionaries, they fixed the bridge with small pieces, symmetry, X's and triangles so that it would successfully support weight on a final test.

- 1. making a strong bridge by Grade 1
- 2. First, we researched using bridge books, pictures and the Internet.
- 3. Second, we made a plan.
- 4. Next, we built the base.
- 5. Then, we started building other parts.
- 6. Next, we tested it with dictionaries, and the bridge fell down.
- 7. We fixed it with small pieces, symmetry, X’s and triangles.
- 8. Finally, we tested it, and it worked!
