The Preventive Services Program (PSP) is a Missouri program that aims to prevent oral disease through annual screenings, education, fluoride varnish applications, and referrals for dental care. It utilizes volunteers like dentists, dental hygienists, parents, nurses and teachers to screen children for oral health issues, apply fluoride varnish twice per year, and refer children in need of dental treatment. The program is coordinated by local agencies and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, and has screened over 17,000 children since 2007.
