Plot
• David joined his school swimming team about 2 years ago.
• One day, he was told to represent his school to take part in a swimming
competition. He knew that he will face a strong competitor, Brandon always
win in swimming competitions. For the upcoming competition, everyone
supposes Brandon will definitely win.
• David is getting worried that he cannot win the competition. Despite all the
doubts he got from outsiders, his parents encouraged him, saying that they will
get him anything he wants if he won the competition.
• He wants to win so badly so he asked for help from his coach and his coach
guided him selflessly with some skills and correct posture of swimming. His
coach helped him a lot during training.
• The training experiences gave him confidence. During competition, he
performed better than he usually did and finally, he got champion. His family
and friends were so proud of him.
• After that, he started to become popular in his school. Thus it makes a part of
the students there started to adore him even when they don’t really know him
and they suppose that he is clever too.
Heuristics are simple, efficient rules, learned or hard-coded by
evolutionary processes, that have been proposed to explain how
people make decisions, come to judgments, and solve problems
typically when facing complex problems or incomplete
information.
- David has a strong competitor, Brandon, whom always win in
swimming competitions. For the upcoming competition, everyone
supposes Brandon will definitely win.
Extrinsic motivations are rewards for showing the desired
behaviour, and the threat of punishment following misbehaviour.
- David is getting worried that he cannot win the competition.
Despite all the doubts he got from outsiders, his parents
encouraged him, saying that they will get him anything he wants if
he won the competition.
Altruistic Model
-unselfish regard for or devotion to the welfare of others.
-behaviour by an animal that is not beneficial to or may be
harmful to itself but that benefits others of its species.
- His father gets him a coach. The coach guided and helped him
selflessly. He also taught him skills and guided him with correct
posture of swimming. His coach helped him a lot and he learned
a lot from him as well.
Social facilitation is the tendency for people to do better on simple
tasks when in the presence of other people. This implies that,
whenever people are being watched by others, they will do well on
things that they are already good at doing.
- During competition, he performed better than he usually did. Finally,
he got champion in the swimming competition.
The halo effect is a cognitive bias in which an observer's overall
impression of a person, company, brand, or product influences the
observer's feelings and thoughts about that entity's character or
properties.
- After that, he started to become popular in his school. Thus it makes
a part of the students there started to adore him even when they
don’t really know him and they suppose that he is clever too.
