Asteroids that has a high possibility of one
of them colliding with Earth.
 There are 30, 000 NEAs already found, with 500
to 1000 of them at least 1 km in diameter.

 As an asteroid passes through Earth’s
atmosphere, it heats up and glows like a meteor.
 On the land, the heat from glowing asteroids can ignite
trees and vegetation, causing forest fires.

Editor's Notes

  • #3: ASTERIODS are known to be debris of bodies within the young sun’s nebula that did not grow large enough to become planet.
  • #5: Have 1 -2 million asteroids larger than 1km across and millions more that are smaller.
  • #6: Asteroids SHARE an orbit with a large planet or moon. The celestial bodies DO NOT COLLIDE because they are always either AHEAR OR BEHIND THE PLANET OR MOON. Some TROJANS are also found in MARS.
  • #8: NEA’S are asteroids that are mostly watched by astronomers because their orbit puts them within collision range of Earth.
  • #9: Because its orbit is close to that of Earth.
  • #10: Asteroids that impact the earth can cause a lot of damage, and can generate large waves similar to tsunami if it falls in the sea.
  • #11: Extinction of the dinosaur (66 million years ago)is thought to be prompted by an asteroid impact.
  • #15: 1000 times greater than that of the atomic bomb drop in HIROSHIMA. - CAUSED BY EITHER A COMET OR AN ASTEROID that was about 38 METER IN DIAMETER, which exploded in the atmosphere before it reached the ground.
