Asteroids, primarily composed of rocky materials similar to terrestrial planets, pose a potential collision risk to Earth with around 30,000 near-Earth asteroids (NEAs) identified, including 500 to 1,000 that are at least 1 km in diameter. As they enter Earth's atmosphere, they heat up and create a visible glow, resembling meteors. The intense heat from these glowing asteroids can trigger forest fires upon landing.
