- 5. Now, there are hundred of varieties of rocks, formed thru various earth processes, and they are categorized into THREE, and are cycled in the planet.

- 17. Igneous Rock cooling and crystallization of magma (rough, non acidic, no layers)
- 18. Sedimentary Rock Sedimentary rock Is formed when sediment is compressed in layered and hardened (rounding shape, grain, layers)
- 19. Metamorphic Rock Metamorphic rocks are formed by the high temperature and pressure inside the earth (fine texture, visible crystals, can have layers)
- 20. Igneous Rock all rocks that form by cooling and/or crystallization of molten material (magma/lava) within the crust or at the Earth’s surface.
- 21. Two Types of Igneous Rock INTRUSIVE IGNEOUS ROCK • form inside the Earth when magma cools slowly beneath the surface. Because of the slow cooling, they have large crystals. Example: Granite.
- 22. EXTRUSIVE IGNEOUS ROCK • form on the surface of the Earth when lava cools quickly after a volcanic eruption. Due to the quick cooling, they have small crystals or none at all. Example: Basalt. Two Types of Igneous Rock
