The document presents a novel local keypoint descriptor, called Radial Fourier Analysis (RFA), which utilizes spectral analysis in the frequency domain for keypoint detection and orientation estimation, enhancing rotational invariance. RFA converts image gradients around SIFT keypoints to frequency domain to derive distinctive keypoint descriptions, addressing the limitations of existing statistical methods in the spatial domain. Experimental results demonstrate RFA's robustness against various image distortions, indicating strong potential for improved local keypoint description in computer vision applications.
