Pho History
Not everyone know how to make Pho noodle soup but everyone probably know of Pho or heard of
Pho somewhere in their life. The authentic Pho is a Vietnamese noodle soup consisting of white long
flat sticky rice noodle, beef broth soup, and it usually served with sprouts, basil, culantro, cilantro,
white onion, green onion, lime, and other extras on the side such as spiracha hot chili and hoisin sauce
so that you can season the soup to your own taste. But who actually have tried the best Pho noodle
soup? Probably not many people have tried a bowl of Pho noodle soup that taste so delicious, savory
and unforgettable, unless they have a chance to travel to Vietnam where Pho is originated from. No
matter whether it is daytime or nighttime, searching for a hot, steaming bowl of Pho noodle soup is
never hard to find anywhere on the streets of Vietnam. Perhaps Pho is the most delicious and popular
Vietnamese food in Vietnam which distinguish the different between Vietnamese diversity culture

Youth Athletics Essay
Youth Athletics
In Reading, Massachusetts, one parent was beaten to death by another parent after a scuffle at a youth
hockey game (Sachs). In Palin Beach, Florida, a father of a little league player was sentenced to three
years in prison after taking a gun and pointing it at a coach (Gehring). In Port St. Lucie, Florida, a
headline in the evening paper read, Spectator Bites off Man s Ear at Youth Baseball Game (Pallerino).
Why would parents act in such negative ways? They are too competitive at youth athletic events.
During my five years refereeing youth sports, I have seen many examples of negative behavior. This
past September, a parent, whom I have known for a few years, approached me after a basketball game
her child s team ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was even told by a parent that there is nothing I can do if I want to fix this problem, but I would like
to try.
Let me share a few other personal experiences that motivate me. While I was refereeing a fifth grade
basketball tournament, a parent ran onto the floor after my officiating partner. While I was watching
an eighth grade girls game, the opposing team lost by one point. Directly after the buzzer sounded, a
whole section of parents left their seats and went onto the floor toward officials. I heard everything
from, I ll wait all night til you get out of that room, to Does anyone know what this guy is driving? to I
m gonna kill you.
Why are parents behaving this way? Professor Hypes believes that, Parents are living their lives
through their children. These parents may have not been successful during their childhood, and they
believe that they must do everything in their ability to have their child succeed. I have no doubt that
parents want the best for their children, but behaving this way does not show their children appropriate
respect. How can we expect children to portray sensible behavior when they witness their parents
doing worse? I often hear that we cannot allow children to use professional athletes as role models

Quotes From The Book Walked Two Moons
Don t judge a man until you ve walked two moons in his moccasins. (Creech) . This seems to be a
very important quote from the book because, it revolves around the whole book. In the book Walk
Two Moons Sal has to move from her home in Bybanks to Euclid, Ohio with sadness, Phoebe gets to
see her mother come and go with happiness and, Sal gets to see her mother s tombstone with relief. In
the beginning, Sal has an internal force she had to move to Euclid , Ohio and she becomes sad because
she loves Bybanks. Sal and her father move very quickly. Just over a week ago, my father plucked me
up like a weed and all of my belongings and drove off. ( Creech 1) Sal says that her father plucked her
up like a weed so she moved very fastly and she misses Bybanks. Sal continues to dislike Euclid,
Ohio. No trees? I said this is where we are going to live? (Creech 2). Sal realizes that Euclid has
nothing fun. Where is the barn? I asked. The river? the swimming hole? (Creech 2). Sal wishes that all
of the fun stuff in Bybanks can transfer to Euclid. She seems sad and upset because she will have no ...

A Brief Note On The American Civil War

Civil War
The American Civil War, that took place from 1861 to 1865, marked one of the most important
changes in American history, it was fought between the Union and the Confederate States of America.
A total of even southern states that left the Union to form their own country in order to protect the
institution of slavery. The Civil War transformed the country s economy, politics, women, African
Americans, along with major breakthroughs in technology. The war increased northern prosperity,
whereas the South s entire society quickly collapsed. The war s impact on northern society was
positive, which led to an advancement in all aspects of northern life.

economy dominated over the country that help rebuild the United States as a country.
The Union developed their own country in order to abolish the institution of slavery. The union was
not going to allow the confederates to practice slavery. Many northern states favored the abolition of
slavery. The southerners favored the institution of slavery and favored the power of state governments
over the federal government. This caused a split in political parties and led to the formation of new
parties in the United States. The Constitutional Union Party rose and was formed by former Whigs.
The Constitutional Union Party s stance held in preserving the union by refusing to take sides on
slavery. When it became obvious that support for the party was weak, many in the Constitutional
Union Party attempted to join with Northern Democrats who supported appeasement. The United
States defeated the Confederate States and abolished slavery nationwide.( America s Reconstruction
People and Politics After the Civil War ).
During the Civil War, American women want to find a way to contribute to the war. Women in the
North and South joined as volunteers and signed up to work as nurses. It was the first time in
American history that women were allowed to

Social Change Essay
In my lifetime time, I have seen many social changes. The invention of the internet, the change in
views on race, religion and the institution of marriage and many other changes too numerous to
mention. There are three important processes that facilitate these changes, cultural processes
(invention, discovery, and diffusion), social conflict, ideas, and demographic patterns. Along with
social change, modernity has allowed our society to change. Modern societies are different from
traditional societies and by looking at the theories of Tönnies, Durkheim, Weber, and Marx. we see
some defining traits of modernity. Without social change our society would stagnate. Social change
allows our society to grow. There are three important sources ... Show more content on

In industrial capitalist societies, he maintained, the struggle between capitalists and workers pushes
society toward a socialist system of production. Marx vision about social conflict arising from
inequality has proven to be correct and that it does create changes in every society. Without ideas, and
men with dreams, there would be no innovation and little social change. Max Weber believed that
most social change came from ideas. For example, it takes just one man with a charismatic message to
inspire and change the world. Weber (1958, orig. 1904 l905) also high lighted the importance of ideas
by revealing how the religious beliefs of early Protestants set the stage for the spread of industrial
capitalism. Ideas unite people in a common goal allowing social change to take place, such as creating
a new neighborhood watch program or protesting wall street for more income equality. As populations
grow and change, demographic patterns play a part in social change. Some patterns include change in
household size, women having fewer children, the age of the population, and the migration from one
place to another. In America, households have been shrinking over the last century and family size is
about half of what it used to be. Also, women are deciding to have fewer children, and more people
are living alone. Our population is steadily growing older by the year 2035, seniors will account for 20
percent of the total and their numbers will

made in how to best mitigate the failure and what would need to be done to prevent it from causing an
outage.
Examples
Single point would be one user knows how a specific system/hardware functions. He/She is out sick
during and outage or in my case people like to say gets hit by a bus. To mitigate this, hire additional
resources or cross train resources to handle the system/hardware as a backup function in the even

Virtualization platforms today have the ability to shift a virtual machine from one physical host to

Problems in Haiti
(1) Statement of Issue/Problem:
Haiti which is labeled as a developing country ranked 146th among 177 countries in the UN Human
Development Index for 2007/2008 suffers from the issues related to health care, population and
freedoms of women for several decades. The legality of abortion in Haiti is a significant issue which
plays a major role which can be associated with the problems in health care, population dynamics and
freedoms of women.
The questions about the abortion has started to take an increasing attention on the political agenda in
Latin America and Caribbean countries which can be described as the home to world s most restrictive
abortion laws (Yam et al. 2006: 225). Implementation of restrictive abortion laws can be attributed to
the existence of a legacy of a colonial jurisprudence especially for the Caribbean countries including
Haiti (Pheterson Azize 2005:44). Thus, in order to evaluate the issue of prohibition of abortion in Haiti
accurately, the influence of European laws on abortion providers is going to be taken into
consideration in the content of the paper.
The relevance of the influence of legality of abortion on the development of Haiti is associated with
the notion of freedoms of people to apply for abortion and a lack of health care resulting from the
illegal and unhealthy ways that women apply for abortion. To clarify, illegality of abortion in Haiti
restrains the freedoms of people, suppresses Haitian women and causes a lack of health care

Heteroglossia
Heteroglossia Langue and linguistic variation
Bakhtin developed the notion in contrast with the structuralist account of language, which was
centered in the notion of langue, that is, the systematic set of rules determining the well formedness of
an expression or utterance. This concept, introduced by Saussure, emphasised the notion that the code
conformed by the linguistic norms must be common to all speakers for communication to be possible.
This was seen as a dangerous simplification by Bakhtin, who asserted that languages are internally
divided, not simply into regional dialects, but also into many different strata, corresponding to all
possible axes of social division; he thus posited a minutely nuanced variety of class , ethnia , ... Show

He defines heteroglossia as another s speech in another s language, serving to express authorial
intentions but in a refracted way. Bakhtin identifies the direct narrative of the author, rather than
dialogue between characters, as the primary location of this conflict.
Languages as points of view
Bakhtin viewed the modern novel as a literary form best suited for the exploitation of heteroglossia, in
direct contrast to epic poetry (and, in a lesser degree, poetry in general). The linguistic energy of the
novel was seen in its expression of the conflict between voices through their adscription to different
elements in the novel s discourse.
Any language, in Bakhtin s view, stratifies into many voices: social dialects, characteristic group
behavior, professional jargons, generic languages, languages of generations and age groups,
tendentious languages, languages of the authorities, of various circles and of passing fashions. This
diversity of voice is, Bakhtin asserts, the defining characteristic of the novel as a genre.
Traditional stylistics, like epic poetry, do not share the trait of heteroglossia. In Bakhtin s words,
poetry depersonalizes days in language, while prose, as we shall see, often deliberately intensifies
difference between them...

Graduation Speech At Utah Valley University
Ever since I could remember my parents told me that college was key to being successful in life, if
you didn t attend a good college your life was most likely not going to be a very happy one. This
message stay throughout my life , education was of great importance and college was the key factor of
where you ended up in life. High school counselors, teachers, parents, and mentors all emphasized that
the better the college you attend the more opportunities you ll have. Being a high school senior and
having to think seriously about the future now, I applied for many schools and landed at Utah Valley
University, a great feeder school for Brigham Young University. I attended Utah Valley University for
1 semester and I really enjoyed many aspects of going to a university but decided to go back home to
orange county and attend a community college instead, Coastline Community College. I have so far
been enrolled at coastline for about a month and can see the likenesses and the differences between the
university life and the community college life. I can see no college is alike, and that doesn t mean one
college is better than another. It took transferring to a community college to see that not even a
university is better than a community college.
Utah Valley University and Coastline Community College, weren t the same type of school but
actually had quite a bit of similarities. For instance, both Utah Valley and Coastline are well known for

Interests in the Persian Gulf
America s direct involvement in the Persian Gulf began in the early 1990s when Iraqi President
Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. Tensions that were building in the Middle East were unleashed
causing a chain reaction over the next decade of violent attacks on Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Israel, the
United States, and rebellions within Iraq. After the September 11th attacks, America s national
military strategy shifted from countering belligerent states to countering violent extremist
organizations that undermine transregional security of the Persian Gulf.
Despite the shift in adversaries, the interests in the Persian Gulf have not shifted since our previous
involvement. Currently, the United States military strategy in the Persian Gulf is shaped around three
key interests: democracy promotion, peace and stability, and securing an open international economic
system. These three interests seek to protect United States national security and can be achieved
through diplomatic measures.

students would interact with one a another, there were no other ways for learners to get educated

different ways for people to receive information, such as getting education and degrees online. A few
years ago online education was never thinkable, and yet it has become to reality and it is widely

In general there are benefits, and harms of online education. Online courses and programs can be very
beneficial in some cases, however harmful to some in a long run . Yes online education can help
individuals such as parents and low income to pursue a higher education without have to worry about
finance and time. In the case of parenthood, parents have to stay home with their kids, and there is no
other ways for them to continue a higher education beside the internet, and in this situation it is
understandable. Also students with low income can not afford money to attend college and online
courses are a good start for those individuals. However there are people who can financially afford for
college, but prefer to take online classes, which would not give them the real life experience and the
interaction between each other. Beside that online courses do not give a person to person interaction,
there is also more work assigned to do then what a traditional classes gives. And responsibility tend to
be higher as well, because no one will be reminding a student what to do and what is due which results

The First World War (WWI) Essay
The Price of Glory: Verdun 1916, written by Alistair Horne, All Quiet on the Western Front, written by

views of World War 1. The letters written by the soldiers talk about his or her individual problems and
how they miss and love his or her families. In The Price of Glory: Verdun 1916, Alistair Horne writes
day to day stories about the Battle of Verdun and of soldiers discussing his or her feelings at that point.

As a source, the letters are both useful and not. The good thing about the letters is that they show how
the soldiers felt about the war and how they were able to deal with the constant fighting and the
conditions they were in. It goes on from day to day: alternately awful marches and then a whole day s
inactive vegetating; heat and cold; too much to eat and then a long spell of hunger. The downside is
that they do not give an overview of the war or tell the reader what is happening everywhere else at all
times. These letters best convey what the soldiers experienced and felt because instead of historians
writing about what they thought the soldiers experienced, it was the actual soldiers expressing what
they were going through during the war.
In All Quiet on the Western Erich Maria Remarque writes about what German soldiers went through
and about the relationships between one another. In his book, the narrator is a German soldier who
tells the reader a very detailed story about his current days in World War 1. He writes dialogues
between the troops and describes all of the other soldiers. Close behind us were our friends: Tjaden, a

The Catastrophic Effects Of War
The catastrophic effects of war War is defined as a state of usually open and declared armed hostile
conflict between states or nations (Merriam Webster, Merriam Webster.com). Warfare has been a tool
used to acquire new lands and resources, defend religious beliefs, and to acquire freedom. Although,
warfare maybe unable to avoid, it should not be used carelessly or without deep and thoughtful
consideration. There are a number of factors that should be taken into consideration before a
declaration of war is even drafted. Such as the long term catastrophic effects warfare causes on people,
the environment, and the economy. Normally when discussing war the main causalities referred to are
deaths. Millions upon millions have lost their lives in the name of war. However, warfare can also
have lasting effects on survivors as well, including the soldiers on the front line down to the civilians
caught in the cross fire. Military personnel along with civilians deal with the long term effects of
PTSD or post traumatic stress syndrome. PTSD is a disorder that develops in some people who have
experienced a shocking, scary, or dangerous event (National Institute of Mental Health,
nimh.nih.gov/). Adults that suffer from PTSD experience flashbacks, angry outbursts, bad dreams, and
avoidance. Although, adults that have lived through conflict can be afflicted with PTSD, children can

Astrological Emptiness in Steve Almond’s “The Problem of...
In Steve Almond s story The Problem of Human Consumption , it revolves around the theme of loss,
morning, and grief. Almond s story focuses on a widowed father who is passed on to raise his
daughter single handily. The story discussed a day in which feelings of morning and deception are
brought out among the characters. The feelings of loss, morning and grief in this story have greatly
manifested the way this story was written and interpreted. After breaking down Almond s story and
reanalyzing it, it can be determined that through his use of the parallel of astrology (space) mixed with
his way of selective word choice and use of symbolism that he is able to strongly and effectively
support his work.

In one scene, Paul, the father, is holding his deceased wife s wedding ring, which, appears to be
suspended in the air. He talks about it as seeming to be suspended and defies the law of gravity . When
he discovers the ring, it is narrated that, The hair is looped through the band, actually in a way that
when he holds both ends the ring is suspended. He...the ring is defying the law of gravity (Almond
144). Relating back to astrology, objects that are in dimensional space are suspended due to the
properties of space and the law of gravity . The parallel of astrology that the author use has to do with
space , that space which is being mirrored would be the void (emptiness, another form of space) that
Paul and Jess have due to the loss they re both facing, the loss of his wife also her mother. The space
in which the suspended ring creates through it, serves as a mirror to the void which both character
face. Symbolically, the void is represented with the dead wife s wedding ring. Analytically, the ring is
missing the space in which it use to occupy. Here again recurs the theme of space relating to the most
symbolic object throughout the story, the wedding ring. The author used this parallel of astrology in
order emphases one of the vastest, curiosity striking, mystery to be discovered, which is space in terms
of astrological space, but along paralleling to the space of emptiness (in terms of loss of a love one).

Women As News Anchors
Women in all careers are striving to gain equality in the work force today, and female television news
anchors are definitely part of the fight. The road to television news anchoring is a rocky one, where
only a few women survive and many fail. Where progress was once thought to have been made, there
aren t many females getting ahead in the world of television news. Today, there is a very slow, if any,
gain in the numbers of women who succeed. There are many questions surrounding the subject of
women in television news, and I will attempt to answer relevant ones in this paper. How have the

This was relevant to my paper in answering the question of why there are certain expectations of
women in television news. The textbook, Gender, Race and Class in Media had a few chapters
relevant to my paper. Larry Gross wrote a chapter titled, Out of the
Mainstream: Sexual Minorities and Mass Media. He discussed various stereotypes in our society that
lead to stereotypes in all areas of our lives. I found some of my sources from Oasis, and also used a
couple of magazine articles that were relevant to the subject. I focused on the questions that I wanted
to answer and drew points from the material that were relevant and provided substantial evidence to
answer my questions. I found that opinions and thoughts of women who had been through the
business were most helpful. There was one big limitation I faced if I wanted to prove that women in
television news were discriminated upon based on sex and age. Women have been fired from their
anchor positions, and it has seemed that the reasons were because of looks or aging. But this is hard to
prove. In August, Carol
Schrader, a woman anchor from KETV TV in Omaha, Nebraska was asked to leave.
She said that it was because of her age, although her bosses didn t say that was the reason, stating that
she wasn t doing her job. She was replace by a young, blond woman. Also, when Marlene Sanders

Analysis of Transcript
Analysis of Transcript Young Ones Introduction: I have chosen to analyse the beginning of the first
episode in the first series of the 80 s TV comedy The Young Ones . This particular text appeals to me
because it is important in how it introduces the characters, as this is the first time the audience ever
meet them. Relative Status: Rick and Neil are both students living in the same house; therefore their
status should be equal though both are striving for dominance. Rick is defiantly the more dominant of
the two, due to his extrovert personality. Both characters are self centred, for instance, at the beginning
of the scene; Neil delivers a monologue where he talks about himself ... Show more content on

This is denoted by the way Neil talks to himself or arguably the audience, about what is going on. His
frequent use of fillers such as right and like emphasize the chatty, personal speech and helps make a
scripted conversation flow like a natural one. These fillers also make Neil more real and human; this
helps the audience to relate to him. This is especially important as the character of Neil is arguably
there to be sympathised with. When Rick is discussing his poem about Cliff Richard, Neil is talking
about how he is going to kill himself, this is an attempt to change the topic of conversation, however
he fails as Rick is the dominant speaker. Thus, two separate conversations run parallel with each other.
Lexis: The lexis within my transcript is informal, conversational and often colloquial. For example
words such as eh , huh , yeah and gonna are examples of conversational lexis. There are also examples
of clichéd hippy lexis used by Neil, such as man , heavy , karma and suss out , these form the semantic
field of spiritualists, which reinforce stereotypical ideas about students and hippies . Rick s poem
displays many typical features of a poem, with the use of rhyme and repetition. For example, the
rhyming of as if and a cliff immediately allows the audience to recognise that it is a poem. The poem

Safe And Effective Birth Controls
For healthy pregnancies, it is critical to promote healthy behaviors. Women who do not plan to
become pregnant need to be aware of the prevention methods used for unwanted pregnancies. In
addition, women who plan on becoming pregnant need to be aware that they affect the outcome of
whether or not their infants are born healthy because of the way they take care of themselves and their
unborn children during the prenatal stage. Understanding common infant health conditions and ways
to prevent them may decrease the risk of babies born with medical problems. During the year of 2012,

Therefore, planned pregnancy is a huge key factor in preventing birth defects, because often times
birth defects develop even before women might know they are pregnant. Because women don t know
they are pregnant, they may consume alcohol, causing harm to their babies. Smoking causes harm to
infants before, during, and after pregnancies. Even in the womb nicotine, carbon monoxide, and many
other poisons women inhale from cigarettes are carried through their bloodstream. Smoking while
pregnant causes many developmental issues including birth defects, lung problems, stunted growth,
increase in babies heart rates, low birth weight, or result in stillbirths. However, there are many other
agents known to cause these developmental defects. For example, drugs and other medications such
as; thalidomide, isotretinoin, valproic acid, methotrexate, and mycophenolate mofetil are also known
to cause the same birth defects (Simeone, et al., 2015). Putting healthy supplements, unlike these types

Disney, Racism, And The Renaissance Era
Lindsey Artz 12/3/14 ENGL 316 2 From Fact to Fiction: Disney, Racism, and the Renaissance Era.
Disney is a multi billion dollar industry. Originally founded by the Disney brothers, Walt and Roy E.,
the company has now become a world wide phenomenon, diversifying its company into live action
film production, television, and theme parks. It surrounds us every day, in almost every way possible.
More importantly however, the Disney industry is known to people world wide as being one of the top
leaders in children s popular films and subsequently, storybooks. The countless movies and short films
made over the years have not only provided joy and happiness to families and young children, but
have ultimately influenced the way that these young children see the world as they grow older. Many
of the traditional fairytales known throughout the ages have been Disneyfied and have become more
modern through their adaptations, in order to increase revenue and audience appraisal. In addition, a
vast majority of the films released are based on different cultures, countries, or a certain historical
group or figure to create a more wholesome atmosphere where children can learn and become
cultured. However, the responses to these films that are often overlooked are the ones that bring a
negative light to the Disney Company and their reputation as a whole. Disney was and is known for
creating well rounded, happy, and often romantic animated films for children and their family

Immigration Benefits And Promotes Urbanization
Immigration benefits and promotes urbanization in New York and Vancouver from 1860 to 1920.
The period from the late 19th century to the early 20th century is important in the urban development
history of Canadian and American. Urbanization is a historical process that contains urban
development. Urbanization is a process of population concentration as well as a process that advanced
production modes substitute backward modes. At the same time, it is also the process to adapt to the
mode of production and to innovate lifestyle. Hence, urbanization is a dynamic process that many
aspects of economics, society and culture comprehensively transform caused by the revolution of
social productive forces.
The urban population boost resulted in various benefits. Immigration is a main propelling force to
urbanization. It also propelled optimization of the urban population structure, shaped the
characteristics of urban residence, and also formed civic multicultural style and features. In my
opinion, immigration benefits and promotes urbanization in Vancouver and New York from 1860 to
1920.
Canada s urbanization was inherently and closely related with that of Europe and North America.
Local factors and communities elite played a significant role in the development of Canada s cities
(especially in western part). Vancouver is a representative of urbanization and immigration from 1860
to 1920. Norbert Magdonald noted that prior to the arrival of the first train in 1887, the townsite

To His Coy Mistress Rhyme Scheme
In Andrew Marvell s poem, To His Coy Mistress , the speaker argues that if he and the woman he is
addressing had an infinite amount of time together, there would be no rush to be together. However,
since they are not immortal and only human, they cannot be together forever and only have what is
offered to them: the present moment. The speaker tries to convince the woman to seize the day and to
indulge in the physical aspect of their relationship before marriage. Marvell s argument is that instead
of categorizing our lives based on and fretting about what should be done in the present versus what
should be done in the future, people should cherish every moment as it comes. In order to convey this
theme, Marvell utilizes a nonuniform scheme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By using this irregularity and not using a rigid pattern throughout the poem, Marvell cleverly throws
the reader off to the uneven distribution of syllables in order and their attention is given to the
substance of those lines. For instance, there are pauses within the first two lines that separates, and
thereby throws off, the tetrameter. The third line (twelve syllables) contains no pauses and continues
into the fourth line (eight syllables), reason being that this rhythm contrasts the rhythm of the couplet,
where the two lines possess ten syllables

The 1950s was the time period where the company would take off but later on with the woman s rights

Hugh Hefner or Carlye Alder as presented in a CNN Money article had this to say, In June, (1969) the
police came and arrested me. There were four of them they all wanted to come to see the inside of the
mansion. They said they were arresting me because of a pictorial that we ran on Jayne Mansfield, but
since the pictures were really no different from any of the others that we d run, it s clear the reason
was that we were criticizing the government and attacking the connection to the church. Anyway, the
city eventually dropped the case. Playboy was a magazine that always staved to offer something new,
something different, something that will surely give shock value with its nature and the society it was
being breaded in but it also strived to create this sexual revolution and give American society a new
look towards sex and a man s healthy lifestyle, soon enough this new look would go on to influence
other countries and large parts of the world, granting the company worldwide success and power.
Hugh himself as always stuck by this idea and has always said that it was the time the company was
established in that was actually able to create solid ground for the years to come and for its growth
into this worldwide company that nowadays has had to change to survive. It was a change produced at
the exact right time and he himself says in an article for CNN Money

What Single Word Mean To Me Analysis
I believe that the words spoken by others can hold a powerful meaning in people s minds. To me, I
think a single word has the power to dramatically change someone s day, or life. I know when people
say negative, mean things about me, even though they may think it is a joke, my feelings get hurt, and
when they say positive, nice things about me I get happy. My mood can instantly change depending on
whether someone says something nice, or something mean about me. Words of discouragement
brought me down; I let other people define me. My life has consisted of social issues, and the words
people said about me affected me greatly in more ways than other people know. Due to the fact that I

words of kindness trumped the negative words I was getting at school. She stood up for me when I

because I knew I could find more friends like Ashley. I was right! I met Lauren, Arriana, Izzy, Brook
Saunders, and Brooke Gierge. None of them cared how I looked, but they cared about my personality.
I soon became great friends with all of them. Even though I surrounded myself with friends who
believed in me, the rude comments did not stop, they only got worse. Teenagers are cruel today, they
say things in class in front of my peers like, Move your fat butt, Nobody looks at you because you are
too big, You are not pretty enough, No one will ever like you, You will never get another boyfriend.
No wonder he dumped you. He only liked you because he felt sorry for you. I mean who in their right
mind would like you. I felt like I had no control over these things. No one knew how hard it was for
me to lose weight due to my lack of ability to exercise. I could not control the fact that he dumped me,
and I could not control the fact that no one would like me. I tried everything I could to control these
things, but they were simply impossible. One time I came back home from school, and I was upset. A
kid told me at lunch, Raquel if you do not like what we are talking about then you can go move your
lazy big butt away. Oh wait you cannot because you are to heavy to lift yourself up. Other kids started

Comparing The Cask Of Amontillado And A Rose For Emily
Comparative Analysis Short Story Essay
Both short stories The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe and A Rose for
Emily by William Faulkner highlights the issue of revenge and showcases the outcomes of mental
illness. In these stories, the main characters, Montresor and Emily, both suffer from mental illness,
which causes them later on in the story to lose their sense of humanity and commit murder. Both
Montresor and Emily believe that they have been wronged, and thus seek revenge on the ones who
have wronged them by murdering them. Not only do they both commit murder, but also they do so by
committing it through inhumane methods. Montresor murders his rival by burying him alive, and
Emily by poisoning and preserving her boyfriend s dead body. Both stories The Cask of Amontillado
and A Rose for Emily illustrate two mentally unstable characters who lose their sanity and commit
murder, revealing how the actions of people in the upper class, which were unchecked because of their
social status, result in the commission of reprehensible actions. In the story The Cask of Amontillado
both Montresor and Fortunato come from high social and prominent classes. In the beginning of the
story, one may assume that Montresor did not come from any prominent social class; ... Show more

or questioned about their behavior, which gave them the opportunity to commit many actions

isolation on a person, which can lead to insanity. Both Montresor and Emily were victims of isolation,
which impacted their behaviors and actions and drove them to commit

Phases of Wound Healing
(A)Wound healing is a biological process occurring in the human body. In this lecture we had
discussed about both acute and chronic wounds. An acute wound is an injury to the skin that occurs
suddenly rather than over time. It heals at a predictable and expected rate according to the normal
wound healing process. The chronic wounds do not heal in an orderly set of stages and in a predictable
amount of time the way most wounds do.
The normal wound healing process mainly consists of four main stages being haemostasis,
inflammation, proliferation or new tissue formation, and tissue remodeling or resolution. For a wound
to heal well the above mentioned stages should occur in a sequential and orderly manner.
Disturbances, abnormalities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main function of neutrophils is to clear the wound region from being exposed to microorganisms
and remove the debris near the wound area, although they end up producing some proteases and
reactive oxygen species which causes some minor damages. Monocytes appear in the wound after this
and differentiate into macrophages. These macrophages produce cytokines which recruit and activate
specific leukocytes that promote inflammatory response. Macrophages along with neutrophils help in
removing the apoptotic cells. During this process the macrophages undergo phenotypic transition to
stimulate keratinocytes, fibroblasts, and angiogenesis to promote tissue regeneration, thereby
promoting the transition from inflammation to proliferative phase of healing. The next event in
inflammation is T lymphocytes migrating to the wound site. Although their role is not yet clearly
understood, studies using mice models have revealed that delayed T lymphocyte infiltration and
decrease in concentration of these cells may lead to impaired wound healing. Specifically the dendritic
epidermal cells (DETC), due to their unique dendritic morphology, transform keratinocytes and
produce fibroblast growth factor 7 (FGF 7), keratinocytes growth factors, and insulin like growth
factor 1, to support keratinocyte proliferation and cell survival.
The third phase is proliferation or new tissue

Fay Weldon Letters To Alice
(THESIS) Jane Austen s didactic novel Pride and Prejudice (1813), written during the patriarchal
Victorian Era examines the intricate relationship between love and financial security in marriages.
Similarly, Fay Weldon s postmodernist epistolary novel Letters to Alice (1984) argues for the
importance of morally instructive texts as well as supporting the importance of finding a balance
between love and financial security within marriage. (CONC SENT)
By examining Austen s Pride and Prejudice in conjunction with Weldon s feminist assessment of
Regency values, an enhanced understanding of the institution of marriage is achieved. Austen,
influenced by Regency philosopher John Locke explores the importance of attaining a marriage which

In 1978, Julie Hayward became the first female to receive equal pay after the amended Equal pay Act
promoting the belief the modern day women need not depend upon her husband for financial security.
Now, Austen mocks Mrs Bennet s obsession with marrying her daughters in the third person narration
To know that her daughter would be married was enough. She was not humbled by any remembrance
of her misconduct . In response, Weldon admits I take a very tender view of Mrs Bennet, more tender
than her creator does. But I am looking at a society from the outside in, not the inside out. educing
pathos for the difficulties faced by Victorian mothers from the readers by demonstrating the greater
significance of marrying one s children as only 30% of women married during Victorian England as
opposed to the 1980s where marriage has become trivialised to the stuff of women s magazines .
Furthermore, the Aunt s series of questions to Alice What do your parents say? Aren t you excited?
Will you settle down to be a writer or will you go to UCLA as planned? promotes the values instilled
by the first two waves of feminism supporting female education and autonomy challenging the notion
females need to marry for economic advantage in the modern world. However, Weldon s analogy of
the pretty girl from Java marries the rancher from Australia...to escape hunger and poverty
paradoxically criticises claims of female autonomy being achieved as though large advancements have
been made in developed nations, these are not consistent across all nations. Thus, Weldon comments
upon Austen s characterisation of marriages to develop an assessment of the advancement of female
rights since the Victorian

American Consumer Culture
Consumer culture can be defined as a free enterprise in which its main focal point is on selling the
consumer goods while spending the consumer money. An individual s way of purchasing merchandise
that reflects their anatomy and appearance. Meanwhile media enables an easier portrayal of consumer
culture by exemplifying an America based on consumerism since the dawn of the industrialization.
Along comes conspicuous consumption, the act of purchasing the luxury lifestyle to portray a
euphoria of one s being. Many embellish this lifestyle to elicit a better view of class. In American
society, consumer culture has three major effects; the overspending of the masses, America s

With an ever growing rate of national debt, americans are making more decisions on their spending
rather than in their savings. According to Grayson Bell s article Overspending in America The Sad
Truth publishing statistics on the overspending truth of the american lifestyle shows that, The average
American spends $1.33 for every dollar spent , which is devastating to the american economical
growth of the country. According to the usdebtclock.org, the US owes $898,235,950,000+ in credit
card loans, this is an ever growing debt that the american people have caused by overspending. Many
spend money to embellish a lifestyle that can t be afforded, hence conspicuous consumption, yet
without a strong discipline to control their temptation it has become a finite between spending and
savings. Forgetting the difference between the want and need can truly affect how americans feel
about overspending money. In Kathryn Buschman Vasel s article, Why we over Spend the reason
behind an individual s failure to save money states that almost everyone will overspend at one point in
their life, but some feel like they deserve the same goods as their peers and that s where the problem
lies: not knowing the difference between wanting something, deserving something, and being entitled
to something , many are oblivious about the obsession of spending on the wants, so the poor decisions
continue to arise with an America being now a consumer and not a

Many people have said that we can t live without friends. I totally agree with this point of view. There

The Myers Briggs Personality Test
Lindsey Osbon Mrs. Brennan English II H 6th 5 September 2014 Lindsey Madison Osbon: The
Supervisor Who would have known that four letters can describe a person in complete detail! The
Myers Briggs Personality Test can explain your own personality better than you ever thought you
could. My personality falls under ESTJ, which stands for extraverted, sensing, thinking, judging. ESTJ
s are usually hard workers that use logic and tradition to complete things efficiently while staying
organized. They tend to be very stable people that remain loyal, dependable, and active. They enjoy
creating things around the house, volunteering in the community, as well as watching and playing
sports. ESTJ s are known to be great leaders, often times employed as an engineer, doctor, manager,
consultant, technician, or agriculturist. I agree that I am an extraverted person because I enjoy being
with others. Although I do like my occasional me time, I prefer to be spending time with friends and
family. Another reason I feel I am an extravert is because I am usually confident in myself and the
things I do. Having said that, being extraverted really helps with my athletic side and involvement in
the community. Being on a team that you want to work well together requires each individual to get
along and trust one another in what they do. If I didn t enjoy being around my teammates and never
had any confidence in myself or them, nothing would ever be accomplished. The same

Marx vision about social conflict arising from inequality has proven to be correct and that it does create changes in every society. Without ideas, and men with dreams, there would be no innovation and little social change. Max Weber believed that most social change came from ideas. For example, it takes just one man with a charismatic message to inspire and change the world. Weber (1958, orig. 1904 l905) also high lighted the importance of ideas by revealing how the religious beliefs of early Protestants set the stage for the spread of industrial capitalism. Ideas unite people in a common goal allowing social change to take place, such as creating a new neighborhood watch program or protesting wall street for more income equality. As populations grow and change, demographic patterns play a part in social change. Some patterns include change in household size, women having fewer children, the age of the population, and the migration from one place to another. Problems in Haiti (1) Statement of Issue/Problem: Haiti which is labeled as a developing country ranked 146th among 177 countries in the UN Human Development Index for 2007/2008 suffers from the issues related to health care, population and freedoms of women for several decades. The legality of abortion in Haiti is a significant issue which plays a major role which can be associated with the problems in health care, population dynamics and freedoms of women. The questions about the abortion has started to take an increasing attention on the political agenda in Latin America and Caribbean countries which can be described as the home to world s most restrictive abortion laws (Yam et al. 2006: 225). Implementation of restrictive abortion laws can be attributed to the existence of a legacy of a colonial jurisprudence especially for the Caribbean countries including Haiti (Pheterson Azize 2005:44). Thus, in order to evaluate the issue of prohibition of abortion in Haiti accurately, the influence of European laws on abortion providers is going to be taken into consideration in the content of the paper. The relevance of the influence of legality of abortion on the development of Haiti is associated with the notion of freedoms of people to apply for abortion and a lack of health care resulting from the illegal and unhealthy ways that women apply for abortion. To clarify, illegality of abortion in Haiti restrains the freedoms of people, suppresses Haitian women and causes a lack of health care ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Heteroglossia Heteroglossia Langue and linguistic variation Bakhtin developed the notion in contrast with the structuralist account of language, which was centered in the notion of langue, that is, the systematic set of rules determining the well formedness of an expression or utterance. This concept, introduced by Saussure, emphasised the notion that the code conformed by the linguistic norms must be common to all speakers for communication to be possible. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He defines heteroglossia as another s speech in another s language, serving to express authorial intentions but in a refracted way. Bakhtin identifies the direct narrative of the author, rather than dialogue between characters, as the primary location of this conflict. Languages as points of view Bakhtin viewed the modern novel as a literary form best suited for the exploitation of heteroglossia, in direct contrast to epic poetry (and, in a lesser degree, poetry in general). The linguistic energy of the novel was seen in its expression of the conflict between voices through their adscription to different elements in the novel s discourse. Any language, in Bakhtin s view, stratifies into many voices: social dialects, characteristic group behavior, professional jargons, generic languages, languages of generations and age groups, tendentious languages, languages of the authorities, of various circles and of passing fashions. This diversity of voice is, Bakhtin asserts, the defining characteristic of the novel as a genre. Traditional stylistics, like epic poetry, do not share the trait of heteroglossia. In Bakhtin s words, poetry depersonalizes days in language, while prose, as we shall see, often deliberately intensifies difference between them... Extending his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Relative Status: Rick and Neil are both students living in the same house; therefore their status should be equal though both are striving for dominance. This is denoted by the way Neil talks to himself or arguably the audience, about what is going on. His frequent use of fillers such as right and like emphasize the chatty, personal speech and helps make a scripted conversation flow like a natural one. When Rick is discussing his poem about Cliff Richard, Neil is talking about how he is going to kill himself, this is an attempt to change the topic of conversation, however he fails as Rick is the dominant speaker. Thus, two separate conversations run parallel with each other. Lexis: The lexis within my transcript is informal, conversational and often colloquial. For example words such as eh , huh , yeah and gonna are examples of conversational lexis. There are also examples of clichéd hippy lexis used by Neil, such as man , heavy , karma and suss out , these form the semantic field of spiritualists, which reinforce stereotypical ideas about students and hippies . Originally founded by the Disney brothers, Walt and Roy E., the company has now become a world wide phenomenon, diversifying its company into live action film production, television, and theme parks. It surrounds us every day, in almost every way possible. More importantly however, the Disney industry is known to people world wide as being one of the top leaders in children s popular films and subsequently, storybooks. The countless movies and short films made over the years have not only provided joy and happiness to families and young children, but have ultimately influenced the way that these young children see the world as they grow older. Many of the traditional fairytales known throughout the ages have been Disneyfied and have become more modern through their adaptations, in order to increase revenue and audience appraisal. In addition, a vast majority of the films released are based on different cultures, countries, or a certain historical group or figure to create a more wholesome atmosphere where children can learn and become cultured. However, the responses to these films that are often overlooked are the ones that bring a negative light to the Disney Company and their reputation as a whole. Disney was and is known for creating well rounded, happy, and often romantic animated films for children and their family ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The period from the late 19th century to the early 20th century is important in the urban development history of Canadian and American. Urbanization is a historical process that contains urban development. Urbanization is a process of population concentration as well as a process that advanced production modes substitute backward modes. At the same time, it is also the process to adapt to the mode of production and to innovate lifestyle. Hence, urbanization is a dynamic process that many aspects of economics, society and culture comprehensively transform caused by the revolution of social productive forces. The urban population boost resulted in various benefits. Immigration is a main propelling force to urbanization. It also propelled optimization of the urban population structure, shaped the characteristics of urban residence, and also formed civic multicultural style and features. In my opinion, immigration benefits and promotes urbanization in Vancouver and New York from 1860 to 1920. Canada s urbanization was inherently and closely related with that of Europe and North America. Local factors and communities elite played a significant role in the development of Canada s cities (especially in western part). Vancouver is a representative of urbanization and immigration from 1860 to 1920. Norbert Magdonald noted that prior to the arrival of the first train in 1887, the townsite ... To His Coy Mistress Rhyme Scheme In Andrew Marvell s poem, To His Coy Mistress , the speaker argues that if he and the woman he is addressing had an infinite amount of time together, there would be no rush to be together. However, since they are not immortal and only human, they cannot be together forever and only have what is offered to them: the present moment. The speaker tries to convince the woman to seize the day and to indulge in the physical aspect of their relationship before marriage. Marvell s argument is that instead of categorizing our lives based on and fretting about what should be done in the present versus what should be done in the future, people should cherish every moment as it comes. In order to convey this theme, Marvell utilizes a nonuniform scheme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By using this irregularity and not using a rigid pattern throughout the poem, Marvell cleverly throws the reader off to the uneven distribution of syllables in order and their attention is given to the substance of those lines. For instance, there are pauses within the first two lines that separates, and thereby throws off, the tetrameter. The third line (twelve syllables) contains no pauses and continues into the fourth line (eight syllables), reason being that this rhythm contrasts the rhythm of the couplet, where the two lines possess ten syllables ... • 29. Comparing The Cask Of Amontillado And A Rose For Emily Comparative Analysis Short Story Essay Both short stories The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe and A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner highlights the issue of revenge and showcases the outcomes of mental illness. In these stories, the main characters, Montresor and Emily, both suffer from mental illness, which causes them later on in the story to lose their sense of humanity and commit murder. Both Montresor and Emily believe that they have been wronged, and thus seek revenge on the ones who have wronged them by murdering them. Not only do they both commit murder, but also they do so by committing it through inhumane methods. Montresor murders his rival by burying him alive, and Emily by poisoning and preserving her boyfriend s dead body. Both stories The Cask of Amontillado and A Rose for Emily illustrate two mentally unstable characters who lose their sanity and commit murder, revealing how the actions of people in the upper class, which were unchecked because of their social status, result in the commission of reprehensible actions. • 30. Phases of Wound Healing (A)Wound healing is a biological process occurring in the human body. In this lecture we had discussed about both acute and chronic wounds. An acute wound is an injury to the skin that occurs suddenly rather than over time. It heals at a predictable and expected rate according to the normal wound healing process. The chronic wounds do not heal in an orderly set of stages and in a predictable amount of time the way most wounds do. The normal wound healing process mainly consists of four main stages being haemostasis, inflammation, proliferation or new tissue formation, and tissue remodeling or resolution. For a wound to heal well the above mentioned stages should occur in a sequential and orderly manner. Disturbances, abnormalities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main function of neutrophils is to clear the wound region from being exposed to microorganisms and remove the debris near the wound area, although they end up producing some proteases and reactive oxygen species which causes some minor damages. Monocytes appear in the wound after this and differentiate into macrophages. These macrophages produce cytokines which recruit and activate specific leukocytes that promote inflammatory response. Macrophages along with neutrophils help in removing the apoptotic cells. During this process the macrophages undergo phenotypic transition to stimulate keratinocytes, fibroblasts, and angiogenesis to promote tissue regeneration, thereby promoting the transition from inflammation to proliferative phase of healing. The next event in inflammation is T lymphocytes migrating to the wound site. Although their role is not yet clearly understood, studies using mice models have revealed that delayed T lymphocyte infiltration and decrease in concentration of these cells may lead to impaired wound healing. Specifically the dendritic epidermal cells (DETC), due to their unique dendritic morphology, transform keratinocytes and produce fibroblast growth factor 7 (FGF 7), keratinocytes growth factors, and insulin like growth factor 1, to support keratinocyte proliferation and cell survival. The third phase is proliferation or new tissue ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Myers Briggs Personality Test can explain your own personality better than you ever thought you could. My personality falls under ESTJ, which stands for extraverted, sensing, thinking, judging. ESTJ s are usually hard workers that use logic and tradition to complete things efficiently while staying organized. They tend to be very stable people that remain loyal, dependable, and active. They enjoy creating things around the house, volunteering in the community, as well as watching and playing sports. ESTJ s are known to be great leaders, often times employed as an engineer, doctor, manager, consultant, technician, or agriculturist. I agree that I am an extraverted person because I enjoy being with others. Although I do like my occasional me time, I prefer to be spending time with friends and family. Another reason I feel I am an extravert is because I am usually confident in myself and the things I do. Having said that, being extraverted really helps with my athletic side and involvement in the community.
