Robots are mechanical creations that are programmed to perform specific tasks for humans. They can be used for industrial labor, medical procedures, and even as toys or household assistants. While robots currently benefit society by augmenting the workforce, their role is predicted to expand significantly in the future as personal assistants and in performing dangerous jobs.

Future Predictions of Robots 2009 - In just three years, 4.5 million household robots have been sold. 2010 - Robots that can perform surgery and life threatning tasks have been created. 2025 – Robot assistants and robot pets are now very common amoung households. 2040 – All households now own a robot of some sort.
