Sinjun Wesson Research Paper
Is it just an explanation to sell the products? How could a group of people can hate on some certain
people just because they were born with different skin color or different religion? This question came
right through my head right when I have learned the meaning of the Confederate flag and the swastika
sign on the Nazi s flag. I do not believe that under any conditions the display of the swastika sign or
the confederate flag should be socially acceptable. Sinjun Wesson is an artist that believe if he present
a swastika sign with bright colors and illustrated it with a type of dessert that everybody like, a donut,
then he could somehow make the history that came along with the sign vanish and make his art give a
positive message. Wesson tries

Electing A New Chief Essay
Why would you go through the trouble of electing a new chief when you can just stick with me,
Ralph? Why would you risk people having new conflicts that were not existing before? Why would
you (rhetorical question) change the entire system of things when everything is working? I am not
sure why anyone would want to elect a new chief when you have a perfect contender right in front of
you. In the past, I might have gotten a bit carried away with the fact that we were going to be rescued,
but now I have come to reality and have better plans for us. I have both the mental abilities as well as
physical abilities, which make me the best candidate for chief. I am the best candidate for chief
because the little uns look up to me which is necessary for being chief. Vote for Ralph because I will

Before when Jack was in charge of how we get our food, he was not very organized about it. Some
people almost died because Jack was caught up in the idea of hunting and killing. That is not a good
attribute for a chief. Because of the results of how it turned out, I will change the way we used to do
things. I plan to be more organized and will assign certain people to do certain jobs. One example is if
there are about 20 25 people on the island I will split us up into 5 groups and each group will have a
specific job (logos). By doing this, it will ensure people are safe and understand what their job is and
stick to their job. After hunting the food, we will receive and eat the food in orderly fashion to make
sure everyone is given their ration of food. When Jack was in charge of this, people were acting like
animals trying to get their food and some people did not even get any food. When I am reelected as

The Pros And Cons Of Honey Bees
I am writing to inform you regarding a noteworthy issue that is concerning the world. One that expects
you to take immediate action and prevent the consequences that would ultimately allow the bees to
continue to suffer. Albeit little in size, honey bees and different pollinators are essential in the creation
of sustenance for people and numerous animals. Around 33% of our crops desire pollination, that
would diminish production without these crucial bees. (sos bees.org) Of the whole U.S. farming
industry, $29 billion originate from crops that require pollination. (cnn.com) Despite their undeniable
significance, honey bee populaces have gotten little consideration and are discovering it progressively
hard to survive.
A recent report conducted by the Bee Informed Partnership demonstrated that beekeepers in the
United States lost 44 percent of their bumble bee settlements in a one year traverse. This denotes the
second year that summer misfortunes equal winter misfortunes of bees. This would resemble that one
day you came to the dinner table and had an average meal. Following one year, the measure of the
food you eat decreased by 44 percent. Consistently after that, a similar thing happened and in the long
run, you re left with nothing. Nobody questions why this happens and there is not much change done
to transform it.Much like if the honey bees go terminated there go every one of the advantages of
having honey bees in this world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We need to encourage and promote bee advocacy as that will ultimately improve the whole
community. The health of bees is vital for our flowers to bloom and our fruits and vegetables to

The Negative Effects Of Television And Video Game Violence
On average, an American encounters approximately 200,000 violent acts before the age of eighteen.
However, these exposures do not influence an individual to exhibit violence. Concerns regarding
whether television and video game brutality has a negative effect on the public by promoting cruelty,
dates back to the 1950 s and is still prevalent today. Studies and research conducted on the issue are
unable to prove that the two variables have any correlation to each other. In fact, statistics demonstrate
how the amount of violent crimes has decreased significantly throughout time, despite the growing
video game popularity. Lastly, in society, people look for anything to transfer the blame, especially in
regards to a situation that may threaten an individual s community. As a matter of fact, by reviewing
the extensive research the conclusion was drawn stating, exposure has no effect on barbarity.
Therefore, television and video game ferocity does not have a negative effect on the population.
Studies and research conducted on the issue is irrelevant. Specifically, the studies conducted fail to
assess accurate information essential in the process of proving cause and effect. Not to mention,
previous studies that revealed a link between the two factors only focused on short term effects and
did not take other factors into account. In reality, children get riled up over images they may see and
are likely to act out for a short period of time. However, this does not prove overall

Necco Wafers Research Paper
In 1847, with Oliver Chase s invention of the lozenge cutter, the famous Necco Wafers were born.
Necco Wafers quickly became an American favorite with eight flavors to enjoy: orange, lemon, lime,
clove, chocolate, cinnamon, licorice, and wintergreen. Aside from consumption, Necco Wafers have
also been used as poker chips, for first communion practice, and even as bulls eyes at target ranges.
Four billion Necco Wafers are produced each year, and if placed edge to edge, would wrap around the
world twice. In the early 1900 s, Necco Wafers came in handy for more than just gingerbread house
decorations. For example, in 1913, Donald MacMillan, an arctic explorer, gave eskimo children the
American candy on his expedition. In the 1930 s, two and a half tons of this chalky candy were
included on Admiral Byrd s two year journey in the Antarctic, enough for each of member of his crew
to consume a pound of wafers each week. Since Necco Wafers did not melt and rarely broke during
transport, during World War II, the American government sent massive amounts of these candies
overseas to soldiers. Although World War II veterans were not the first soldiers to have rations of

flavors are mixed together and workers pack them in rows that are then packaged. These rolls of

The East Facade Of The Louvre
Perrault still relied a lot antiquity rule to do his reference, even if Perrault mentions that he created the
new taste of architectural element for French. He accepted that Vitruvius theory and order still an
important part of his theory. Perrault mentions that, I also contend that whatever innovations I
introduce are intended not so much to correct what is ancient as to return it to its original perfection. I
do this not on my own authority, following only my own insight, but always in reference to some
example taken from ancient works or from reputable writers. The East Facade of the Louvre is hard to
define its style because of Perrault s theory and Le vau s influence. A historian, Blunt, argues that the
facade shows the Baroque and Classical style at the same time. He wrote, The Colonnade has no exact
parallel in French architecture, but it is the first example in this art of the style of Louis XIV. In certain
respects it is Baroque: the scale of the Order, the depth given by the free standing colonnade, the
variety of rhythm due to the coupling of the columns. In other ways it is more strictly classical than
earlier French work: the clear and simple definition of the masses, the straight line of the front (in
contrast to the curves of most of the Italian designs and even Le Vau s first scheme), the severe and
almost unbroken entablatures, and the purity of detail in the Order and the mouldings.

Descriptive Essay On My First Roller Coaster
Finally, the time came. I was so nervous! My palms were sweating, I was shaking just a little bit, and I
felt the need to vomit out the curly fries I had just eaten. I thought to myself Why did I agree to this? I
m going to faint! But let s start at the beginning of the story, you know the one where I decided to ride
my first roller coaster.
I was in a black durango with my best friends Marlee, Emma and Katelyn. Marlee s mom was driving
us to Six Flags to celebrate her 12th birthday. When we got inside the park after an hour or so of
singing our favorite songs at the top of our lungs and talking about how much we hated school, the
first thing we all did was grab a map so we could find our favorite rides. It was almost perfect weather
outside with a breeze but the sun still shining. About 3 hours passed then I heard, Let s ride Medusa!
I begged them to let me stay on the ground and I did for their first ride. When they got off all I heard
was, Come on Ava, you ll have so much fun! Yeah Medusa is the best roller coaster here! from Marlee
and Emma with excited looks on their faces. After a few minutes of stalling, you know talking about
how many people have died on roller coasters, saying I had to use the restroom, yada yada yada, I
finally made the best decision in my life and said yes to go on the roller coaster.
It was almost closing hour so where the super duper crazy long lines usually were, there were only
five other people in line. We sat in a row of

Family Values Linda Chavez Summary
Are Immigrants actually hurting America? In the article Supporting Family Values Linda Chavez
writes to inform Americans about immigrants. In American people make the assumption that
immigrants are here to hurt America instead of improving America. In reality there is only a small
group of immigrants that hurt America. People need to separate the groups to realize that there are
immigrants who help America and that they should be allowed to stay in America under certain
circumstances. Immigrants should be given amnesty if they have families and work to contribute to
America. Firstly, Families are important in America, the lifestyle of Americans is based around family.

Perry feels that if Americans realize the way that women immigrants are viewed then maybe people
will think before they judge. These articles show that a lot of times Americans look at immigrants and
judge them on stereotypes. These authors show that immigrants should not be judged because they
have a different background form American citizens. Secondly, Immigrants that contribute to the
American society often pay taxes and learn to speak the English language often work but are not
treated equally as Native Americans are. Chavez talks about how there is a big difference in the
amount of male immigrants are in the work force compared to the amount of US males in the work
force (455). People often make the assumption that immigrants are paid the same as US citizens, but
in reality they are paid less weather they are legal or illegal. The difference in the amount that
immigrants make and American born people is astounding illegal immigrants was 36,000 in 2007
compared with 50,000 for native born households (Chavez 455). She makes this statement to show the
difference in the amount that immigrants make compared to the amount Native Americans make. To
show that even though immigrant work more that Native Americans they are paid less because they
are not from America (Chavez 455). Roger Waldinger also talks about working immigrants in

Saudi Arabia And The Islamic World
When it comes to the Middle Eastern continent the most significant and popular country is known as
Saudi Arabia. The fact following certain aspects and a shared history with Islamic religion makes it
the most well known place in the world for Muslims as well as the entire Arab world. Saudi Arabia
lies and covers most of the Arabian Peninsula, inclusive of the Red Sea. The first concrete evidence of
human existence in the Arab world takes us back 15000 to 20000 years. Tribes of hunters and
gatherers survived on this land, abolishing hunger through wild animals and plants. Over the centuries,
the peninsula has played the role in history as an ancient trade center and the birthplace of Islam, one
of the most monotheistic religions that exist in the world, even today! Saudi Arabia is not only the
homeland of Arabs, but also the homeland of Islam. The Prophet Muhammad PBUH founded Islam in
the two holiest places in the Islamic world, Mecca and Medina, which to this day exist within the
borders of Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was founded by King Abdul Aziz in the early
1900 s. After establishing Riyadh as his headquarters, Abdul Aziz captured several neighboring areas,
including Mecca and Medina, during the time period of 1924 to 1925 and during the process; he
united the warring tribes into one nation. Finally, on September 23, 1925, the country was given the
name of Saudi Arabia, with Arabic as its national language and its constitution being based on the

Literary Differences In Kissing The Witch By Emma Donoghue
Nobody made me do the things I did, nobody scolded me, nobody punished me but me. The shrill
voices were all inside. Do this, do that, you lazy heap of dirt (2). Coming from the first passage of
Emma Donoghue s Kissing the Witch sets a revision of popular fairy tales whereas internal voices,
seen as personal experience, and their comparison to external voices, seen as societal expectations,
create places where these stories change. This shift can be seen as a move away from the original well
known story or aspects of that particular story, while also representing a change in the narrator of the
story itself.
The passage above for instance occurs when a cinderella type character is introduced to the reader.
These internal voices are normally associated with the external voices of the evil stepmother and
stepdaughters, which is associated widely with a common thread within the cinderella story itself.
This revision flips what is normally seen as an external voice and internalizes it. A few pages later we
see the girl and her interaction with the prince after he proposes marriage. The voices were shrieking,
Yes yes yes say yes before you lose your chance you bag of nothingness. I opened my teeth but no
sound came out (7). While the passage above set up the idea of internal voices, this passage shows
how this internalized external voice is not the voice of the cinderella type narrator. Not only does this
completely rewrite what is considered the normal ending for the

The Holocaust Survivor And The Survivors Of The Holocaust
Holocaust Survivors

There are all these moments you think you won t survive. And then you survive. ~ David Levithan.
Holocaust survivors embodied this quote because they had odds stacked against them and were
surrounded by death but still they survived. The Holocaust started on January 30, 1933 and ended on
May 8, 1945. During the Holocaust around 11 million jews, gypsies, mentally ill people, disabled
people, and anyone else Adolf Hitler didn t see fit were killed. Hitler had an ideal master race in mind
for Germany. These people were tall, had blond hair, and had blue eyes. Hitler and his party members,
Nazis, sent the people they thought that didn t fit in to camps. In these camps they were forced to live

Many survivors are still having to deal with effects of the Holocaust today. Some survivors are still
being affected by being starved during wartime. Today they have higher rates of osteoporosis, cancer,
and other medical conditions likely related to being starved during the Holocaust. Survivors have
higher nutritional needs today than the general elderly population and meeting those needs are costly.
Most survivors are poverty stricken, making it hard for them to eat healthy and get the nutrients they
need. An estimated one third of the Holocaust survivors in America live at or below the poverty line.
80 percent of Holocaust survivors in the former Soviet Union are living in poverty. Some holocaust
survivors don t have families, either they didn t marry, have or couldn t have kids, or their family died
in the Holocaust. For the survivors in this situation they have to support themselves on their own. A

Essay on Phase of Rapid Change in the English Language
Phase of Rapid Change in the English Language The English language is always changing, however,
at the moment it is going through a phase of rapid change, more so than ever before. This more recent
change, I believe, is due to mass media and advances in science and technology global
communications (Including SMS messaging, the internet, e mail and other advances in). Due to being
almost flooded with American television adverts and programmes, the English language is taking on
board Americanisms, both the pronunciation of words and their spelling. Words such as colour in

Words such as Diss and minger , are used by a lot of people aged 12 18, it is quite possible that in
time, one of these may be added to the English dictionary. It is important to bring new words into our
lexicon as new technologies are invented, new diseases develop, new cures created, etc… Other
words added in the last century include computer , television and radio . If new words were not
created to compensate for the developments and discoveries, we would be left saying things like
machine for performing calculations , device for receiving streaming visual and audio , instrument for
transmitting and receiving electromagnetic waves . I believe it is safe to assume we would rather have
one word that means what ten words could describe. As well as the introduction of words, emoticons,
and the spelling and pronunciation of words changing, their meanings can also change. A creek in
British English, means a tidal inlet of the ocean, or a large river but American English uses it in the
sense of any small stream. Other words have different meanings, depending on the context in which
they are used (e.g. a fine day , fine silk , she is fine ). Looking further back at the English language,
we can see that it is a mongrel language, comprised and influenced by many other languages. There

station relates perfectly to the gernalist social work practice in a lot of different ways. First way that it
relates is that it uses the empowerment theory. Here is a quote from their website about empowerment
Finding strength within. Encouraging the autonomy of both our consumers and staff using teamwork

The Role Of An Aging Population In The United States
The United States population over 65 years of age is increasing as the baby boomers reach retirement
age. Greater life expectancy is a result of people living longer with better nutrition, healthcare, and
management of chronic diseases. In the primary care setting, where I work, we have a large patient
population of older adults. Caring for middle aged and elderly patients requires greater time and
intensity than caring for most younger patients. It is not unusual for an elderly patient to have six or
more chronic conditions and twelve or more prescription medications which require coordination and
monitoring. Updated HIPAA consents and Health Care Proxy documents are essential to providing
seamless care. Since primary care involves repeated encounters with patients over time, I am quite
familiar with many of my patients and their families and, when appropriate, assist families to assure
that these are documents are current. Additionally, I have had personal experience caring for an aging

Allegory Of The Cave By George Orwell Analysis
Jamie Li
A Comparison of Plato s Cave Allegory and Orwell s 1984 Enduring Pain for Truth
Have you ever thought of what it would be like if your whole life were an illusion and you had no way
of knowing reality? This is the situation Plato describes in The Allegory of the Cave . Prisoners in a
cave watch shadows that they think are real; however, a few prisoners leave the cave to see the truth in
sunlight. Similarly, in George Orwell s novel 1984, most citizens believe the lies of Big Brother and
the Party, and only a few rebel to seek the truth. 1984 parallels the first two stages of The Allegory of
the Cave, in which prisoners believe shadow scenes are reality, until they are released to see ... Show

As Winston Smith reflects, The horrible thing about the Two Minutes Hate was not that one was
obliged to act a part, but that it was impossible to avoid joining in. (Orwell, 16) The Two Minutes
Hate takes the rage that persons may feel toward the lack of control over their own lives away from
the Party and turns it against claimed enemies of the Party. Because Big Brother is declared to be kind
and good, any enemy is automatically evil and bad. There are also spies to keep the citizens as
ignorant as the prisoners in Plato s cave. The Thought Police keep people afraid, discouraging
independent thinking; even children spy on their parents. The children, Orwell writes in 1984, were
systematically turned against their parents and taught to spy on them and report their deviations. The
family has become in effect an extension of the Thought Police. It was a device by means of which
everyone could be surrounded night and day by informers who knew him intimately (Orwell, 133). No
relationship should be more important than loyalty to Big brother. Moreover, the last thing that
controls the people is the telescreen. The telescreen not only watches citizens, but also tells the Party s
lies that change history. But, like prisoners in the cave, the citizens have no other reality to compare it

High Oil Prices And The Russian Economy
High flying oil price benefited oil producing countries past 5 years until recent petroleum price
plunge. Russian was the one of beneficiaries who has enjoyed the high oil price. The Russian
economy stabilized without much of restructuring the economic system or economic growth by
developing new industry. High oil price created budget surpluses and keep Russian economy afloat;
However, increase of the US oil production, oil price war between Saudi and Kuwait, debilitating
European economy, and decreasing oil consumption in Asia contributed to drive oil price down
quickly and substantially. Russian GDP signals that its economy gets pounded and affected hardest
among major oil exporters. The Russian budget has been in balance with small portion of public debt
in comparison to national GDP. Falling price of petroleum drastically reshaped the Russian economy.
Financial forecasts and analysis predict that economic recession could come back to Russia.
Crumbling Russian ruble and dwindling exports slashed 2014 Russian GDP, and its GDP will fall
lower than Spain or South Korea. Without serious police changes or development of technology,

What Is The Difference Between The Ecosystem And Aquatic...
Ecosystem is a natural system consists of all the biotic component in a community interacting with
each other as well as with all the abiotic factors to form a stable and balanced system. Terrestrial
ecosystem which is land based ecosystem includes tundra, taiga, temperate deciduous forest, tropical
rain forest, grassland and desert. Aquatic ecosystem is the ecosystem in the water. It is an interacting
system of resources such as water and biota. Water acts as limiting factor that distinguishes aquatic
ecosystem from terrestrial ecosystem and results in differences from many aspects like size structure,
growth rate and nutrient stoichiometry.
Size structure between terrestrial ecosystem and aquatic ecosystem can be distinguished from pyramid
of both ecosystem. Aquatic ecosystem showed inverted pyramid of biomass. Pyramid of biomass,
showing the total dry weight and other suitable measure of the total amount of living matter. Seaweed

birth to their fourteenth child . Although many historians believe that Shah Jahan had created the Taj
to cherish his wife, others believe that it originated an ancient Shiva temple. According to N.P. Oak,
Indian journalist, Shah Jahan had commandeered it from Maharaja of Jaipur and therefore did not
create it himself. The Taj Mahal was meant to be a remembrance of Mumtaz, but the structure of the
building proves otherwise; the Taj Mahal should be viewed as a temple, not a tomb. Temples are often
built on river banks and sea benches. The Taj Mahal was built on the banks of the Yamuna River,
which was the ideal location for a Shiva Temple. Also, the Taj is located in Agra city, which is an
ancient center of Shiva worship. The officials at Agra preserve their tradition by worshipping at five

Sreedharan did three things to get the project done. First, with infrastructure projects languishing all
over India for lack of funds, he went overseas, tapping the Japan Bank of International Cooperation
for loans to cover 60% of the cost. By comparison, it took the city of Kolkata 22 years to build its own
metro because of a paucity of funds.
Second, Sreedharan scoured the world for top companies with extensive experience in the field.
Pacific Consultants International from Japan advised on the engineering matters, Korea s Rotem and
Japan s Mitsubishi supplied the initial shipment of coaches, while France s Alstom led the consortium
responsible for the design of the automatic train control system.
Delhi Metro Rail An Introduction
Delhi, the capital city of India, is one of the fastest growing cities in the world with a population of 13
million as reported in the Census of India Report for the year 2000. Until recently, it was perhaps the
only city of its size in the world depending almost entirely on roads as the sole mode of mass
transport. The total length of the road network in Delhi has increased from a mere 652 km in 1981 to
1122 km in 2001 and it is expected to grow to 1340 km in the year 2021. This increase in road length
is not at par with the phenomenal growth in the number of vehicles on these roads in Delhi. The
cumulative figure of registered private and government buses, the

Examples Of Wrongful Convictions
However, it is not always the case that a confession is the end of a case, as there is always the chance
that it was in fact a false confession. This is not something people usually suspect, as was mentioned
previously that people assume no reasonable person would admit to guilt if they were innocent. Often
times the false confession comes about through coercion and the tactics of police attempting to obtain
a confession no matter if it is accurate or not. There is a vast array of options for police in trying to
obtain a confession from a party that they feel is guilty believing that the prospect of an accurate
confession outweighs the possibility of obtaining a false one. It is very common for an officer to
simply lie to a suspect who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In come cases it does occur that the error in the conviction is caught and the person who was
wrongfully convicted gets the charges against them dropped and they are released from whatever form
of punishment the courts deemed acceptable however even so, the convicted has often spent over 10
years in prison, or was executed by the state. More often than not, wrongful convictions go undetected
and this leaves researchers with a gaping hole in the research as one can only examine the causes of
wrongful convictions from the framing of wrongful convictions that have been uncovered. From the
first step of being wrongfully accused to the last step of being wrongfully punished (whether that be
community service, to incarceration, to being put on death row) many factors go into the process of a
person being wrongfully accused of criminal activity. This paper theorizes that some of them main
causes of a person being wrongfully convicted include the suspect giving false confession typically
under the pretense of police trickery, expert evidence being erroneously gathered and/or presented for
court, and the impact and validity of eyewitness testimony against the accused. These three causes,
working either in cohesion or separately all contribute in a significant manner to wrongful conviction
in the criminal justice system. On the surface, studying and examining the causes of wrongful
conviction is important so that we can be informed and thus attempt to avoid these causes. However,
the benefit of the examination of these causes foes deeper than that. By examining the causes of
wrongful conviction one can attempt to disassemble and examine the systems set in place that allow
for such errors or misuses of power to exist in the first place. By doing this a person can then critically
examine the criminal justice system which could lead to taking the necessary next steps in essential

Shoshone The Shoshone or sometimes referred to as the Snake Indians lived in the states that we
know as Utah, Idaho, Nevada, and Wyoming. This tribe was first encountered by Lewis and Clark in

Shoshone tribe mostly lived as hunters and gatherers but regrettably had tense interactions with the
Euro American settlers which resulted in approximately 200 Shoshones being slaughtered in 1863

Human Trafficking And Its Effects On Human Rights
Human trafficking is an assault on human rights and a violation of one s dignity by means of forced
labor, sex trafficking, bonded labor, and/or domestic servitude. It remains to be both a local and global
issue, occurring in nearly every country, and its networks are vast and formidable to investigate
(Jesionka 2012). Despite government, activist groups and other organization s methods of
intervention, human trafficking is still a major concern with more individuals enslaved now than ever
before. Traffickers are able to coerce, deceive, threaten, and obtain complete control over their
victims. Many of whom are poor, illegal immigrants in search of a job to help support and provide for
their families. In their poverty and desperation, they willingly fall victim to the trade and end up
abused, overworked, underpaid, and most often unable to return home.
Throughout this class we have examined multiple different countries in which human trafficking still
remains an unsolved issue. Such as, Afghanistan s opium brides, Bangladesh s factory workers,
Thailand s child prostitutes, agricultural slaves in the United States, and baby trafficking in China.
How do so many individuals end up trafficked? Why does this still remain such a large problem in the
21st century? Is it something that is forever ingrained in our society? I chose to explore these couple
of questions and more in hopes of answering the last one. Maybe slavery is part of our culture and

Religious Homosexual Oppression
Oppression based on race, sex and sexual orientation:
Over the past 150 years, there have been many groups who have sought the North American dream of
liberty and justice for all. Examples are:
• Americans African seeking an end to slavery.
• Women campaigning to get universal suffrage.
• And now, gays and lesbians are seeking the same equal rights and protections enjoyed by other
groups, including the right to marry.
This final conflict over homosexuality is a little different from the two conflicts based on race and
gender. Being an African American or a woman was never considered a crime. But being a sexually
active person with a homosexual orientation was, theoretically, a crime in 13 states until the middle of
2003. Being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1 They give far less emphasis to the findings of researchers. In this case, the findings of researchers
are generally rejected because they conflict with their interpretation of the Bible. Relying on their
interpretation of the Bible can be disastrous. Consider the debate over slavery in the mid 19th century.
In those days, some denominations enthusiastically quoted biblical passages to support the owning of
human slaves as pieces of property.
Liberals give far greater weight to the findings of scientific research, and are willing to abandon the
traditional interpretation of biblical passages in favor of new analyses which harmonize the Bible and
scientific discoveries. This also can be disastrous from time to time. Although science is inherently
self correcting, sometimes scientists develop theories which deviate wildly from reality, are
inaccurate, and cause harm. Always remember that one of the recipients of the Nobel Prize for
medicine was the physician who developed frontal lobotomies.
Typical conservative Protestant beliefs about homosexuality:
Conservative Christians generally believe that the Bible authors were inspired by God to write text
that is inerrant free of error. They often quote the Bible s seven passages often called clobber passages
which have traditionally been used to condemn homosexuality. They have generally concluded that
the Bible clearly and consistently condemns

Leadership Style And Personality Type I Possess

Learner, Responsibility and Individualization. Each of these strengths are different in their own right
and give a solid base as to the type of leadership style and personality type I possess. It is the
combination of these strengths and how they are utilized that will determine the type of nurse
practitioner I will become in my practice.
A Relator is someone who works closely with others, is honest, candid and gravitates towards
methodical processes (Rath, 2007). Someone who identifies with the strength of Relator takes great

According to Rath (2007), setting up standardized ways of doing things is vital as it allows this person
to do the right thing consistently from a moral and legal perspective.
A person with the strength of Learner is someone who wants to continuously learn and improve, are
able to concentrate for long periods of time and are motivated to further educate themselves (Rath,
2007). A Learner isn t satisfied with mere answers, they must figure things out, solve the puzzle and
will continue to research the subject until satisfied with the knowledge gained even if it means losing
sleep to do it. Most Learners are self taught in many areas, are bold and dare to think outside the box
(Rath, 2007). Education is an important lifelong activity for this person as skills and information are
constantly being learned, tested and perfected.
Responsibility is taking ownership, committing to values and high standards (Rath, 2007). It is
important that things are done the right way with precision and accuracy. A person who identifies with
the strength of Responsibility is organized, consistent, predictable, ethically minded, efficient as well
as dependable (Rath, 2007). Often the more adult of their peers, they are motivated by
acknowledgement and are methodical in nature.
Individualization is most successful when they are on their own yet are able to see and utilize the
unique talents in others (Rath, 2007). This person believes

Mandatory Sentencing Laws For Repeat Offenders
In the 1990s, states began to execute mandatory sentencing laws for repeat offenders. This statute
became known as three strike laws . The three strikes law increases prison sentence for people
convicted of a felony. If you have two or more violent crimes or serious felonies, it limits the ability
that offenders have to receive a punishment other than life sentencing. By 2003 over half of the states
and federal government had enacted the three strike laws . The expectation behind it was to get career
criminals off the street for the good of the public. However, the laws have their connoisseurs who
charge sentences that are often excessive to the crimes committed and that incarcerate of three strike
inmates for 25 years to life. Nevertheless, the US Supreme Court has upheld three strike laws and had
rejected the fact that they amount to cruel and unusual punishment. The state of Washington passed
the first three strikes law in 1993. Anyone convicted of three separate violent felonies must be
sentenced to life in prison without a chance for parole. Then on March 8th, 1994, California followed
by enacting the law that sanctioned a sentence of 25 years to life for a third felony conviction.
Contrary to Washington, the California law counts nonviolent felonies, such as burglary and theft as
strike offences; by 2001, over 50,000 criminals had been penalized under the new law, far more than
any other state, with almost a quarter of the prisoners facing a minimum of 25 years

Current Rate Of Third Semester Pathway Students
As a Data Analyst, I am responsible for assisting in projections and forecasting of enrollment as well
as institutional research projects. This includes use of Excel and R to run statistical analyses in
answering enrollment and research questions. Key to projecting enrollment is a file we use called the
Decision Model We track various aspects of enrollment to help predict future enrollment. For
example, we track the amount of third semester pathway students since they will likely be
matriculating into the Online Degree Program. We also track the percentage of third semester students
who have historically matriculated. This way we can apply the same percentage to the current rate of
third semester Pathway students to estimate new online students. This same principle is applied all
throughout the decision model, enrollment is broken out into categories of different students and
indicators that can help predict that category.
Regression analysis is used often to answer research questions. Using R, linear regression helps to
shed light on the effects of any number of factors into college success. In addition, I have been able to

Character Analysis Of Eleanor Catton s The Luminaries
In 1866, many people had dreams to make fortunes from the gold rushes around the world. The main
character in The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton follows this same dream. The story follows Walter
Moody on his adventure at a place called Hokitika with a common dream; to become a rich gold
miner. Upon his arrival, he is immediately introduced to an investigation of a mysterious crime. With
this knowledge, Moody has to follow the speculated ideas of the town members to try to piece
together and put apart the dream and the reality. Throughout the novel, Moody becomes more trusting
and gets an ambition to help the people. Walter Moody advances in the community of Hokitika
through accepting the reality making him more trusting and ambitious with his goals of helping the
town while letting go of the dream he previously held.
During the beginning of the novel, Walter Moody has a dream to make a fortune through digging gold
out of the mines in the town Hokitika. Upon his arrival he finds himself in the middle of a group of
people trying to piece together the incident that had occurred on the night of the 14th of January.
Moody does not trust this room of people. This is seen as he holds simple information from them, like
he did with a man named Balfour who was trying to find out what issues he was facing. He would
hide information constantly by saying things like The particulars are delicate (Catton 24). Moody, who

Amphetamines For Kids Research Paper
Amphetamines for Kids
ADD/ADHD is a disease that affects many children in the U.S. Most who are diagnosed with the
disease take prescription amphetamines (Hitt). The name amphetamine can be very intimidating, as it
is normally associated with the extremely addictive, and illegal drug, methamphetamine. Many
parents are worried about their children taking these drugs and how they will be affected (Boorady).
Scientists and doctors are currently conducting research on the long term and short term side effects of
these medications (Long Term). As a result, there is much controversy over how ADHD medication
affects a child s body. When a child is diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, most medical professionals
prescribe a amphetamine to help the child with his symptoms. These drugs increase the levels of
dopamine in the brain. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that the body naturally produces for movement
and attentiveness. When the brain is flooded with dopamine, the body reacts with a feeling of
euphoria. The feeling of euphoria is the body s way of feeling pleasure (Methylphenidate).

Science And Religion Research Paper
Today, it seems like science and religion are in a constant, bloody war with one another, similarly to
the on going war between the Palestinians and the Jews, but what are science and religion? Science is
the intellectual study of the structure and behavior of the world through observation and experiment.
Religion is the belief in a superior being or many superior beings. Although science and religion seem
like two diverse topics, the two methods of explanation are more alike than one would think, and both
of these things together complement each other to give us our modern technology and how we as a
society should use it. First, to explain how science and religion are similar, we have to look back in

Without the contribution our religion institution provided us, we could still be stuck in a dark time
with a lack of advances in technological. The catholic church was the first place to allowed the
common folk (peasants) the luxury of books and education. Before the Catholic Church opened the
opportunity of education and books to the masses, education and books were strictly for the wealthy.
With the education provided by the catholic church, the people started to question things in their
environment. They also started pursuing answers to their questions away from text. People held
experiments and would document it carefully. An example of a person who did document his findings
is Roger Bacon. It was the curiosity of the common folk and the opportunity the Catholic Church gave
the common folk that helped to re birth science in Europe. This action made by the catholic church
changed the course of history, which gave European empires an opportunity to compete among the
hegemonic powers at the time (the Abbasid Empire), and brought Europe out of the gloomy Medieval
Era and into the beautiful Renaissance Era. To this day, the Catholic Church remains one of the main
contributors to educating the youth of the world and as a result, has a huge emphasis on science and
technology. The second clue to how these three big topics are closely related is in the nature of
science. Science is our explanation of the world backed up with experimentation and hard fact. Us

position as in the previous year. However, the difference even between benchmark according to Civil
Service survey is 9% not in a favor of the Home Office, the difference with top quarter of survey is
13%. According to Table ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instant, the team and fair treatment have approximately no influence on the overall engagement
level. Although, even work and line management has performed higher than 60% that is a point of
congratulation in comparison with other drivers, the strongest one, leadership and managing change, is
remaining in the same position. In order to compare the strength of different drivers, there is 73% of
the staff that satisfied with their team and only 30% positive answer with leadership style in the
organization. By the fact, that leadership has the strongest impact of the engagement level, the changes
in it would be crucial for it, unlike the job satisfaction with the team. For the all three key drivers of
engagement, leadership, work and line management, Home Office still stay below the benchmark that
estimated by CS2012 by 11%, 9% and 5% respectively.
Leadership and managing change
There are 18% of respondents considers that all of the changes in the organization are making their
work better. It is disappointing, but the score is lower from previous year for 1% and for 7% lower
than average level among other civil departments. From the point of view of 31% of staff, Home
Office has clear understanding of future goal. It is good to know that this number increased form
previous year for 2%, however it is still under the benchmark by 9%. The feeling, that organization as
a whole is managed well, is inherent only for 28% of employees. It is worse than past result for 1%

Essay on Zombies in Popular culture
I was a late bloomer when it came to knowledge of zombies. Well, late in the sense that I hadn t
noticed zombies in pop culture, not late in the sense that zombies had taken over. At least I hope the
movies didn t have real zombies acting like zombies, or else the world as we know it would be in a
whole lot of trouble. The undead are everywhere in popular culture. Zombies appear in video games
such as Doom, Zelda and Left 4 Dead. They are in movies like 28 Days Later, Dawn of the Dead,
Shaun of the Dead, and Zombieland. They are in books like those of Max Brooks. However, I am no
expert when it comes to everything that zombies are in, just what has caught my attention. Zombies in
popular culture first caught my attention when I saw ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rules like cardio, double tap, seatbelts, limber up, and check the back seat. These rules have become
popular culture in themselves. I have a friend who will say Rule #4, wear your seatbelts, when getting
into her car. If a friend is out of breath from playing football, I ll say Cardio, I don t want to have to
kill you when you become a zombie. But Zombieland isn t the only piece of zombie popular culture
that has rules; there are many books and other movies that have important rules to follow in a land
swarmed by zombies.
There is the Zombie Survival Guide written by Max Brooks, which covers a variety of knowledge on
the topics of zombie survival. The book talks about warning signs, weapons, shelters, food, and other
supplies needed. This also has a set of rules that one should follow, but not necessarily in a list format.
Some important rules from the Zombie Survival Guide would be Use your head; cut off theirs, Blades
don t need reloading, and most importantly The zombie may be gone, but the threat lives on. The
problem with the book is that not everyone is going to read it. In 28 Days Later, when the main
character, Jim, wakes up into a world where zombies have taken over. He doesn t know about rules,
and quickly gets in trouble. He is saved by some survivors, where they teach him some rules like you
never go anywhere alone, unless you have no choice, and only travel during daylight, unless you have

Persuasive Essay On Go On Vacation
Finally, we get to go on vacation. I said as we got up to leave. My parents had already loaded up the
car and we were ready to go. All morning while I was getting ready was the sound of suitcases being
dragged around and the beeping of the car as the trunk opened and closed. Then I heard all of my
other seven brothers and sisters get into the car. We of course have a huge car but even with that it s
still a little cramped. All of my brothers stunk up the car and it made the spilt milk smell ten times
worse. We had an hour drive to the airport and then another 5 hours on a plane. My oldest brother,
Andrew had already fallen asleep and my other 3 brothers were poking him and trying to annoy him
but he was out cold. Because in total there are ten of us it s super rare that we ever get to go on
vacation. But my dad just got a ton of extra vacation days so we finally decided to go on a vacation.
This vacation is going to be awesome, as long as no one gets lost, sick, hurt, or complaints. Well
maybe the complaining part won t happen but hey, I can always hope. A long long hour later we arrive
at the airport and park the car. This is the dreaded part, trying to get everyone s things organized. My
bag of course is a decent size. Andrews seems a little small but then again he wears the same outfit
every day and probably won t need much else. Then my older sister Chloe s bag comes out. It s huge!
It seriously look like it was about to explode. But it s too big so she has to

How could a group of people can hate on some certain people just because they were born with different skin color or different religion? This question came right through my head right when I have learned the meaning of the Confederate flag and the swastika sign on the Nazi s flag. I do not believe that under any conditions the display of the swastika sign or the confederate flag should be socially acceptable. Sinjun Wesson is an artist that believe if he present a swastika sign with bright colors and illustrated it with a type of dessert that everybody like, a donut, then he could somehow make the history that came along with the sign vanish and make his art give a positive message. I am not sure why anyone would want to elect a new chief when you have a perfect contender right in front of you. One that expects you to take immediate action and prevent the consequences that would ultimately allow the bees to continue to suffer. Albeit little in size, honey bees and different pollinators are essential in the creation of sustenance for people and numerous animals. Around 33% of our crops desire pollination, that would diminish production without these crucial bees. (sos bees.org) Of the whole U.S. farming industry, $29 billion originate from crops that require pollination. (cnn.com) Despite their undeniable significance, honey bee populaces have gotten little consideration and are discovering it progressively hard to survive. A recent report conducted by the Bee Informed Partnership demonstrated that beekeepers in the United States lost 44 percent of their bumble bee settlements in a one year traverse. This denotes the second year that summer misfortunes equal winter misfortunes of bees. This would resemble that one day you came to the dinner table and had an average meal. Following one year, the measure of the food you eat decreased by 44 percent. Consistently after that, a similar thing happened and in the long run, you re left with nothing. Nobody questions why this happens and there is not much change done to transform it.Much like if the honey bees go terminated there go every one of the advantages of having honey bees in this world. ... • 5. The Negative Effects Of Television And Video Game Violence On average, an American encounters approximately 200,000 violent acts before the age of eighteen. However, these exposures do not influence an individual to exhibit violence. Concerns regarding whether television and video game brutality has a negative effect on the public by promoting cruelty, dates back to the 1950 s and is still prevalent today. Studies and research conducted on the issue are unable to prove that the two variables have any correlation to each other. In fact, statistics demonstrate how the amount of violent crimes has decreased significantly throughout time, despite the growing video game popularity. Lastly, in society, people look for anything to transfer the blame, especially in regards to a situation that may threaten an individual s community. As a matter of fact, by reviewing the extensive research the conclusion was drawn stating, exposure has no effect on barbarity. Therefore, television and video game ferocity does not have a negative effect on the population. Studies and research conducted on the issue is irrelevant. Specifically, the studies conducted fail to assess accurate information essential in the process of proving cause and effect. Not to mention, previous studies that revealed a link between the two factors only focused on short term effects and did not take other factors into account. In reality, children get riled up over images they may see and are likely to act out for a short period of time. However, this does not prove overall ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Necco Wafers quickly became an American favorite with eight flavors to enjoy: orange, lemon, lime, clove, chocolate, cinnamon, licorice, and wintergreen. Aside from consumption, Necco Wafers have also been used as poker chips, for first communion practice, and even as bulls eyes at target ranges. Four billion Necco Wafers are produced each year, and if placed edge to edge, would wrap around the world twice. In the early 1900 s, Necco Wafers came in handy for more than just gingerbread house decorations. For example, in 1913, Donald MacMillan, an arctic explorer, gave eskimo children the American candy on his expedition. In the 1930 s, two and a half tons of this chalky candy were included on Admiral Byrd s two year journey in the Antarctic, enough for each of member of his crew to consume a pound of wafers each week. Since Necco Wafers did not melt and rarely broke during transport, during World War II, the American government sent massive amounts of these candies overseas to soldiers. He accepted that Vitruvius theory and order still an important part of his theory. Perrault mentions that, I also contend that whatever innovations I introduce are intended not so much to correct what is ancient as to return it to its original perfection. I do this not on my own authority, following only my own insight, but always in reference to some example taken from ancient works or from reputable writers. The East Facade of the Louvre is hard to define its style because of Perrault s theory and Le vau s influence. A historian, Blunt, argues that the facade shows the Baroque and Classical style at the same time. He wrote, The Colonnade has no exact parallel in French architecture, but it is the first example in this art of the style of Louis XIV. In certain respects it is Baroque: the scale of the Order, the depth given by the free standing colonnade, the variety of rhythm due to the coupling of the columns. In other ways it is more strictly classical than earlier French work: the clear and simple definition of the masses, the straight line of the front (in contrast to the curves of most of the Italian designs and even Le Vau s first scheme), the severe and almost unbroken entablatures, and the purity of detail in the Order and the mouldings. My palms were sweating, I was shaking just a little bit, and I felt the need to vomit out the curly fries I had just eaten. I thought to myself Why did I agree to this? I m going to faint! But let s start at the beginning of the story, you know the one where I decided to ride my first roller coaster. I was in a black durango with my best friends Marlee, Emma and Katelyn. Marlee s mom was driving us to Six Flags to celebrate her 12th birthday. When we got inside the park after an hour or so of singing our favorite songs at the top of our lungs and talking about how much we hated school, the first thing we all did was grab a map so we could find our favorite rides. It was almost perfect weather outside with a breeze but the sun still shining. About 3 hours passed then I heard, Let s ride Medusa! I begged them to let me stay on the ground and I did for their first ride. When they got off all I heard was, Come on Ava, you ll have so much fun! Yeah Medusa is the best roller coaster here! from Marlee and Emma with excited looks on their faces. After a few minutes of stalling, you know talking about how many people have died on roller coasters, saying I had to use the restroom, yada yada yada, I finally made the best decision in my life and said yes to go on the roller coaster. People need to separate the groups to realize that there are immigrants who help America and that they should be allowed to stay in America under certain circumstances. Secondly, Immigrants that contribute to the American society often pay taxes and learn to speak the English language often work but are not treated equally as Native Americans are. Chavez talks about how there is a big difference in the amount of male immigrants are in the work force compared to the amount of US males in the work force (455). The fact following certain aspects and a shared history with Islamic religion makes it the most well known place in the world for Muslims as well as the entire Arab world. Saudi Arabia lies and covers most of the Arabian Peninsula, inclusive of the Red Sea. The first concrete evidence of human existence in the Arab world takes us back 15000 to 20000 years. Tribes of hunters and gatherers survived on this land, abolishing hunger through wild animals and plants. Over the centuries, the peninsula has played the role in history as an ancient trade center and the birthplace of Islam, one of the most monotheistic religions that exist in the world, even today! Saudi Arabia is not only the homeland of Arabs, but also the homeland of Islam. The Prophet Muhammad PBUH founded Islam in the two holiest places in the Islamic world, Mecca and Medina, which to this day exist within the borders of Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was founded by King Abdul Aziz in the early 1900 s. After establishing Riyadh as his headquarters, Abdul Aziz captured several neighboring areas, including Mecca and Medina, during the time period of 1924 to 1925 and during the process; he united the warring tribes into one nation. • 11. Literary Differences In Kissing The Witch By Emma Donoghue Nobody made me do the things I did, nobody scolded me, nobody punished me but me. The shrill voices were all inside. Do this, do that, you lazy heap of dirt (2). Coming from the first passage of Emma Donoghue s Kissing the Witch sets a revision of popular fairy tales whereas internal voices, seen as personal experience, and their comparison to external voices, seen as societal expectations, create places where these stories change. This shift can be seen as a move away from the original well known story or aspects of that particular story, while also representing a change in the narrator of the story itself. The passage above for instance occurs when a cinderella type character is introduced to the reader. These internal voices are normally associated with the external voices of the evil stepmother and stepdaughters, which is associated widely with a common thread within the cinderella story itself. This revision flips what is normally seen as an external voice and internalizes it. A few pages later we see the girl and her interaction with the prince after he proposes marriage. The voices were shrieking, Yes yes yes say yes before you lose your chance you bag of nothingness. I opened my teeth but no sound came out (7). While the passage above set up the idea of internal voices, this passage shows how this internalized external voice is not the voice of the cinderella type narrator. Not only does this completely rewrite what is considered the normal ending for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Phase of Rapid Change in the English Language Phase of Rapid Change in the English Language The English language is always changing, however, at the moment it is going through a phase of rapid change, more so than ever before. This more recent change, I believe, is due to mass media and advances in science and technology global communications (Including SMS messaging, the internet, e mail and other advances in). If new words were not created to compensate for the developments and discoveries, we would be left saying things like machine for performing calculations , device for receiving streaming visual and audio , instrument for transmitting and receiving electromagnetic waves . As well as the introduction of words, emoticons, and the spelling and pronunciation of words changing, their meanings can also change. Similarly, in George Orwell s novel 1984, most citizens believe the lies of Big Brother and the Party, and only a few rebel to seek the truth. 1984 parallels the first two stages of The Allegory of the Cave, in which prisoners believe shadow scenes are reality, until they are released to see ... Because Big Brother is declared to be kind and good, any enemy is automatically evil and bad. There are also spies to keep the citizens as ignorant as the prisoners in Plato s cave. The Thought Police keep people afraid, discouraging independent thinking; even children spy on their parents. The children, Orwell writes in 1984, were systematically turned against their parents and taught to spy on them and report their deviations. The family has become in effect an extension of the Thought Police. It was a device by means of which everyone could be surrounded night and day by informers who knew him intimately (Orwell, 133). This is not something people usually suspect, as was mentioned previously that people assume no reasonable person would admit to guilt if they were innocent. Often times the false confession comes about through coercion and the tactics of police attempting to obtain a confession no matter if it is accurate or not. In come cases it does occur that the error in the conviction is caught and the person who was wrongfully convicted gets the charges against them dropped and they are released from whatever form of punishment the courts deemed acceptable however even so, the convicted has often spent over 10 years in prison, or was executed by the state. More often than not, wrongful convictions go undetected and this leaves researchers with a gaping hole in the research as one can only examine the causes of wrongful convictions from the framing of wrongful convictions that have been uncovered. From the first step of being wrongfully accused to the last step of being wrongfully punished (whether that be community service, to incarceration, to being put on death row) many factors go into the process of a person being wrongfully accused of criminal activity. This paper theorizes that some of them main causes of a person being wrongfully convicted include the suspect giving false confession typically under the pretense of police trickery, expert evidence being erroneously gathered and/or presented for court, and the impact and validity of eyewitness testimony against the accused. These three causes, working either in cohesion or separately all contribute in a significant manner to wrongful conviction in the criminal justice system. On the surface, studying and examining the causes of wrongful conviction is important so that we can be informed and thus attempt to avoid these causes. However, the benefit of the examination of these causes foes deeper than that. By examining the causes of wrongful conviction one can attempt to disassemble and examine the systems set in place that allow for such errors or misuses of power to exist in the first place. Liberals give far greater weight to the findings of scientific research, and are willing to abandon the traditional interpretation of biblical passages in favor of new analyses which harmonize the Bible and scientific discoveries. The fashion industry designs clothing for the ideal person to wear, but designers do not recognize the struggle it is for disabled people to dress themselves everyday. • 33. Mandatory Sentencing Laws For Repeat Offenders In the 1990s, states began to execute mandatory sentencing laws for repeat offenders. This statute became known as three strike laws . The three strikes law increases prison sentence for people convicted of a felony. If you have two or more violent crimes or serious felonies, it limits the ability that offenders have to receive a punishment other than life sentencing. By 2003 over half of the states and federal government had enacted the three strike laws . The expectation behind it was to get career criminals off the street for the good of the public. However, the laws have their connoisseurs who charge sentences that are often excessive to the crimes committed and that incarcerate of three strike inmates for 25 years to life. Nevertheless, the US Supreme Court has upheld three strike laws and had rejected the fact that they amount to cruel and unusual punishment. The state of Washington passed the first three strikes law in 1993. Anyone convicted of three separate violent felonies must be sentenced to life in prison without a chance for parole. Then on March 8th, 1994, California followed by enacting the law that sanctioned a sentence of 25 years to life for a third felony conviction. Contrary to Washington, the California law counts nonviolent felonies, such as burglary and theft as strike offences; by 2001, over 50,000 criminals had been penalized under the new law, far more than any other state, with almost a quarter of the prisoners facing a minimum of 25 years ... This includes use of Excel and R to run statistical analyses in answering enrollment and research questions. Key to projecting enrollment is a file we use called the Decision Model We track various aspects of enrollment to help predict future enrollment. For example, we track the amount of third semester pathway students since they will likely be matriculating into the Online Degree Program. We also track the percentage of third semester students who have historically matriculated. This way we can apply the same percentage to the current rate of third semester Pathway students to estimate new online students. This same principle is applied all throughout the decision model, enrollment is broken out into categories of different students and indicators that can help predict that category. Regression analysis is used often to answer research questions. Using R, linear regression helps to shed light on the effects of any number of factors into college success. In addition, I have been able to use skills from excel courses on a regular basis to create charts and graphs as well as prepare and analyze spreadsheets. • 38. Science And Religion Research Paper Today, it seems like science and religion are in a constant, bloody war with one another, similarly to the on going war between the Palestinians and the Jews, but what are science and religion? Science is the intellectual study of the structure and behavior of the world through observation and experiment. Religion is the belief in a superior being or many superior beings. Although science and religion seem like two diverse topics, the two methods of explanation are more alike than one would think, and both of these things together complement each other to give us our modern technology and how we as a society should use it. The catholic church was the first place to allowed the common folk (peasants) the luxury of books and education. Before the Catholic Church opened the opportunity of education and books to the masses, education and books were strictly for the wealthy. With the education provided by the catholic church, the people started to question things in their environment. They also started pursuing answers to their questions away from text. People held experiments and would document it carefully. An example of a person who did document his findings is Roger Bacon. It was the curiosity of the common folk and the opportunity the Catholic Church gave the common folk that helped to re birth science in Europe. This action made by the catholic church changed the course of history, which gave European empires an opportunity to compete among the hegemonic powers at the time (the Abbasid Empire), and brought Europe out of the gloomy Medieval Era and into the beautiful Renaissance Era. To this day, the Catholic Church remains one of the main contributors to educating the youth of the world and as a result, has a huge emphasis on science and technology. The second clue to how these three big topics are closely related is in the nature of science. Science is our explanation of the world backed up with experimentation and hard fact.
