Determine whether to scan in color or grayscale based on the content, and calculate the correct resolution based on the intended output size. Launch Photoshop, place the item to be scanned face down on the scanner bed, import the scan using TWAIN acquire or the scanner name. Draw a box around the area to scan and set the resolution, then scan. In Photoshop, use the Unsharp Mask filter with preliminary settings of 200% for Amount, Resolution/200 for Radius, and 3-4 for Threshold to sharpen the image.
