A mysterious narrator who claims to know the reader warns that they are in danger from a force that has haunted others before. The narrator died completing research to help the reader deal with this threatening force. Though the reader may not believe at first, the narrator and those who came before will guide them from the shadows so they realize they are not alone and the force cannot be ignored.

- 1. MYSTERIOUS WOMAN (NARRATOR): You do not know me. We have never met in any physical form. But I know you. And I know that you are in danger. As I was in danger before you. You will not believe at first; as I didn’t. But eventually, you will begin to see, to realise, that you are not alone. My death, as inevitable as it was, was necessary, to help you, as my research shall also help you. Eventually you will realise that the force haunting you cannot be ignored, and I and the others before me shall guide you, in the shadows.
