- 1. Script I am here to present my pitch for the idea I have come up with for my final major project. I have come to the decision to do a horror film trailer after doing plenty of research. The reason I chose this for my final major project is because I have experienced in making this kind of film trailer before therefore I will produce a better outcomes as I know what is needed. I have decided that the film trailer will only consist of one main character, a girl called Alice, who has recently lost her best friend Grace in a car accident. In the synopsis, Alice goes to visit her friend’s grave regularly but not long after her death weird things keep happening to her. Whilst she is at home on her own she hears creepy noises from downstairs then a knock at her door. When she opens the door all she can see is a note that has been left on the door step off her best friend. Alice decides to go and visit her grave which is when she feels like someone is watching her. She begins to get chased by someone who turns out to be the demon of her best friend. To create a sense of enigma in the film trailer for the audience I will leave it on just the sound of the girls scream. By doing this it will make the audience want to know what happens to the girl, which means they will go and see it at the cinema. The target audience for the film trailer will be both males and females that are young adults. The reason for this is because most horror films are aimed at people over the age of 15 due to the gore and scariness. My intended target audience would most likely enjoy and get a thrill out of horror films. They will need to have some kind of interest in the horror genre because if they don’t then they are less likely to want to go and see the film at the cinema. When it comes to the needs of my target audience they are going to be satisfied from watching the film trailer if they go away feeling scared. As well as this, they will go away feeling a sense of thrill and a desire to find out what happens next. From watching the film trailer I want the audience to feel a sense of enigma and wanting to know what happens to the girl at the end of the film. I also want them to go away feeling a sense of rush and thrill from the fast pace cuts and music. I will meet the needs of the audience when it comes to the editing by making the fast cuts before each section. I will also include typical codes and conventions that you would see in a horror film. For example, blood, darkness, knives and creepy locations like a grave yard and woods. Something else that I will include to appeal to the target audience will be eerie music. By doing this it will add to the tension and suspense for the audience by either making the music fast or slow pace. Whilst I am shooting the film trailer I will make sure to use a few POV shots from the main character as this is something you see in a horror film a lot. I will also include close up shots of the main characters face so that the audience can see how she is feeling through her facial expression.
