4) HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGIES IN THE
CONSTRUCTION AND RESEARCH, PLANNING
AND EVALUATION STAGES?
Script for my video
BLOGGER
 The main form of technology that I used was the
website blogger. I used during my construction,
research, planning and evaluation stages. I
used it to document everything that I have done.
I also used it to research past student work,
evaluations, etc. This website has been so
useful as I not only have one place to keep all
my work electronically but also can easily look
back through my work. Also, as it is all on the
computer, I can easily edit things at a later date.
It has made me very organised with every
stage.
IMACS
 The next form of technology that I sued, that I
would not have been able to do anything without
is the macbooks. Although, I sometimes used
my laptop, the macbooks were definitely much
better for the tasks I had to complete. The
access I had to these computers made extra
research and work very easy and meant I had
access to my work all of the school day. They
had final cut and photoshop installed on them
which made it very easy to edit my work. I used
the macs throughout my entire coursework and
have enjoyed using them as they’re extremely
user-friendly.
GOOGLE
 Google has also been a huge influence on
my work. I researched artists, songs,
theories of music videos, album covers,
artists, websites, etc. all without Google
would have been a lot more difficult. It meant
I had access to a wide variety of different
medias and was all easily accessible.
THE MAIN TECHNOLOGIES
 The main technologies I used throughout the
stages to present my work was: Prezi,
Glogster, Bubbl and Slideshare. These
websites are all easy to work and a more fun
interactive way to present work.
PREZI AND SLIDESHARE
 Prezi and Slideshare are both the best ways
to present a lot of work as they are
potentially limitless with the amount of work
and information you want to include. Prezi is
more interesting as there are relevant
backgrounds you can use, you follow a kind
of trail and also there is more opportunity for
importing media.
GLOGSTER
 Glogster is a lot more creative than the
others. It’s more eye-catching and more free
for you to do what you want with. You can
upload images, videos, music, etc. and the
textboxes and relevant cartoon pictures also
make it look a lot more fun. The information
can kind of get lost within this technology as
it can look rather busy but for little bits of
information here and there, it’s a lot better to
use.
BUBBL
 Bubbl is a kind of mix of all of them. Like
Glogster, it’s better to present little
information on here, as although you can
input as much as much as you like, it can get
a little too overcrowded. This is because you
cannot import anything so it’s simply the text
in a spider-diagram form. When simply
wanting to present written work it’s perfect,
but not as much for discussing things when
you want to relate to them and show off
examples.
YOUTUBE
 YouTube has been amazing within this project.
It’s given me access to endless music videos
from so many decades, countless genres and
allowed me to view similar projects to mine – for
example, past student work from other schools,
which without YouTube, I would not have access
to. It’s allowed me to easily analyse music
videos and given me plenty of ideas for my own.
The research I have done on YouTube has been
extremely helpful and helped shaped my video.
THE CAMERAS
 The cameras we used for filming are HD
Sony Handycams. They are easy to work
and understand and are accessible to us
whenever, meaning whenever we needed to
film anything, we were able to. The only
downside to them is that, the quality of them
in the dark in considerably reduced, and
since most of our filming is in the dark, it
means our video looks quite low quality, but
this isn’t much our own fault.
IPAD
 On numerous occasions, I have used my iPad.
Whether this is for research online, taking
photos (most of my photos of Molly were taken
on my iPad) but also when we were filming the
lip-syncing sections, I had the song playing on
YouTube – with the lyrics. This meant Molly
would keep in perfect time and if unsure of a
lyric could glance over. Since this is such a
portable device, it has been extremely useful.
Obviously, it’s connected to the school’s internet
though and on a few occasions has been down
meaning I was unable to use it but the majority
of the time it has been perfect.
FINAL CUT PRO
 Final Cut Pro is where I edited all of my
music video. Although challenging and
complicated to start with, I have adapted and
got more used to it now. The effects and
transitions have been the best part of the
software as I needed to use a lot of them and
there is a wide range to choose from. As this
is the updated version, since year 12, it
meant re-learning how to use the program
but I feel reasonably confident on it now, and
know enough to edit our video.
PHOTOSHOP
 Photoshop has also been very important in
my stages of coursework. I used it to
complete part of my auxiliary tasks. I made
my DigiPack on Photoshop. I imported a CD
cover template and using layers added more
and more to it. I also photoshopped many of
my images. I wanted them all to be black and
white but also I enhanced some of them,
cropped them, edited the background, etc.
This was easy to do once I knew how to use
the tools.
WIX
 Wix was the website creator that I designed
my website on. It was so easy to use and a
lot of fun doing. I found a template that I liked
and stuck to that theme. It wasn’t too
challenging as everything was basically there
you just imported in your own images and
entered your own text. I also used Photoshop
for my images, for example the merchandise
section. The website creator was a very
valuable resource.
SURVEYMONKEY
 SurveyMonkey was a major part of my
audience feedback. It was easy to set up a
questionnaire with any type of questions.
Some would be multiple choice, closed
questions, comment answers, etc. The data
received was automatically collected in many
forms; numerical, graphs, etc. This made it
easy to judge the target audience as a whole
and make quick decisions.
FACEBOOK
 Facebook was the next vital step in this as it
meant that I could upload the survey to
Facebook and get many of my Facebook
friends to answer it. This worked quickly and
efficiently. I also managed to find photos of
Molly on Facebook that I put on her ‘website’,
making it seem more personal and realistic.
EMAIL/GMAIL
 The final media I used was e-mail/g-mail. My
g-mail account is what I have signed up with
on every website. It meant all emails were
collected in the same place and was
therefore easily organised. It was also how I
uploaded any YouTube footage, eg: draft
videos, recorded evidence, etc.
