Diagnostic test When I started my practices I applied a
diagnostic test to the students and I
evaluated their previous knowledge.
The diagnostic test was of oral way,
like that I evaluated the pronunciation,
the speaking, and also I spoke English
with them because I wanted if they
understand when a person is speaking
in English (listening).
Besides that, they developed a test
following my instructions.
In the written test I evaluated grammar
and vocabulary, the grammar
evaluated was according to the grade
and the DBA (Basic learning rights).
The test had a short reading and some
questions about the text
The students
could not
develop the
written test, they
did not
understand when
I spoke in
English, and
they do not
know how to
speak in English
nor pronounce
well.
Due to that the
teacher adviser
and me took the
desition to look
for alternatives
solutions for the
problem

I applied a short
survey to
teachers
basic tests
mini-
conversation
with the
students

Pio XII school
(Primary)
Students of Pio XII school have low
English level, so much so that they
have shortfalls in basic topics of the
subject, such as the alphabet, family
among other things, therefore they do
not have the knowledge neither the
pronunciation nor grammar of the
topics to follow in the curriculum.
The teachers of
the elementary
school have
been teaching
for many years,
for that reason
they were not
prepared to
teach English,
this situation has
taken them to
write on the
board without
teaching
pronunciation
and grammar.
Due to this, it
presents
difficulty to
keep going with
the
corresponding
topics with the
grade according
to the
curriculum.
Methodology The project will be
developed with the
teacher Luz Marina
Rubiano´s,
guidance and will
take into account
the information that
throws some data
sources collection

practices I
received some
reccomendations
by teacher
Marina
Rubiano; like
that I knew the
steps for
completing the
research project.
First of all, I had
to look for the
problem within
the education
system which
has influenced
the
comprehension
the English
language.
During my
practices I saw
that there exist a
low level of
English and as a
result I carried
out this research
to determine
whether or not
the main cause
of these low
grades was a
result of
unqualified
teachers.
Secondly, I
selected the
problem, it was
described; and I
plantied the
general and
specific
objectives.
Thirdly, to start I
searched for
information
about the
English level in
Colombia, I did
a short survey
with the teachers
and gave the
students a test to
determine if at
Pio XII school
there is a low
English level,
which confirmed
that this problem
exists. I also
proposed some
alternative
solutions and
strategies for
improve the
English level .
