- #8: Challenge Improve business-critical application performance and capacity In order to meet customer demand the Apptio technical operations team was searching for a way to maximize the performance they were getting from their servers while securely isolating their customers and workloads. Apptio’s Business Intelligence (BI) application is a big data solution running custom queries on extremely resource intensive customer databases that leave little room for hypervisor overhead. Traditional hypervisor solutions were costly both on price and performance. Running the application on bare metal seemed necessary, but Apptio was having problems maintaining their efficiency while balancing customer needs and availability. Solution Virtuozzo / Virtuozzo Storage After failing to find a hypervisor that could match their requirements around converged infrastructure, Apptio turned to Virtuozzo and Virtuozzo Storage to run their customer databases, front-end interfaces, and custom BI solution.
