1) The study examined sharing power and responsibility between the instructor and students in a graduate education course through a qualitative case study.
2) Results showed that students were involved in decision making regarding the course textbook, content, teaching methods, and assignments. Students responded positively to this shared power and felt more motivated, took more ownership over their learning, and became more active and engaged learners.
3) The conclusion was that instructors should allow graduate students to guide their own learning and discover what they need rather than being told what to learn, in order to help students take responsibility for their education.
