This document discusses using SRDF (Symmetrix Remote Data Facility) with Deutsche Bank to mirror data between storage arrays over long distances using DWDM (Dense Wave Division Multiplexing) technology. It provides an overview of SRDF, how it works, the storage protocols used, and where it is implemented at Deutsche Bank. It also examines the additional latency introduced by synchronously mirroring data over greater distances and provides recommendations and alternative strategies for applications that may not be suited to synchronous replication over an extended distance.
