IP Telephony – Standard User Demonstration
IPTel – Project Background The University’s old PABX with its copper-cabled distribution system will be replaced with a reliable IP Telephony system.  The IPTel Project will replace: Telephone handsets Voicemail system PABX equipment Switchboard Operator consoles
IP Telephony – the technology
7945 – single line handset 7965 – multi line handset IPTel Handsets
Phone Buttons Softkeys Voicemail Directories Speakerphone/hands free
Caller Information, relevant softkeys Name & Extension Call State & Duration Relevant softkeys
Hold and Resume
Call Waiting All extensions have call waiting Enables staff to respond to two calls at once Call waiting is managed through prompts on the screen  Answering a second call automatically puts the first call on hold Secondary calls can be ignored or diverted to voicemail
iDivert iDivert sends the incoming call directly to voicemail
DND – Do Not Disturb Do Not Disturb turns the ringer on the phone off It can be applied to one call, or all calls Screen alerts and flashes persist
CFwdAll – Call Forward All CFwdAll allows you to forward your phone to another phone or to voicemail
Call Transfer 3. Transfer 2. Dial 1. Transfer
Ad-hoc telephone conference 1. Conference 2. Dial 2 nd  Party 3. Conference
Ad-hoc telephone conference – listing and removing 2. Conference initiators can remove attendees 1. ConfList display a list of attendees

Accessing Voicemail from Exchange/Web
Logging into Phone – “Extension Mobility”  Gives staff ability to use their IP phone service from range of locations Most users will not need to log in to other phones – they will remain logged into their own phone Staff regularly working from different offices will find the ability to log in to other phones beneficial Username = eXchange username PIN number is a 5 digit unique number the user can manage through the self service web page

User Web pages Username and password same as eXchange email
Device – Speed Dials and Abbreviated Dialing Speed dials use specific phone buttons (one button process) Handset model determines number of speed dials Receptionist “side cars” allow for expansion Users set their speed dials up  through the web
New Phones from the perspective of the average user: Informative caller information Easy call management Call logs, and the ability to dial from them Ability to manage voicemail through the web Easy, impromptu telephone conferencing  Directory Integration and access on the Phone User self-service web pages Extension Mobility: Log in to any IP handset
