The Belgian startup ecosystem has grown significantly, with over 3,000 startups creating 49,000 jobs. While large factories will no longer open, innovative startups are helping drive the economy, though on average they employ just 15 people. The top industries are advertising, health, manufacturing, and telecom, and almost half of startups are still in the early startup stage. The regions with the most startups are Flanders, Brussels, and Wallonia, with the top startup cities being Brussels, Antwerp, and Ghent. University spin-offs make up over 20% of startups, with KU Leuven and Ghent University contributing the most companies.
