One of the four areas of media is representation, this is how media texts deal with and present factors such as gender, race, ethnicity, age, and social issues. Media texts have the power to shape an audience’s knowledge and understanding about these important topics, so it is vital that a clear and positive representation is displayed. I will embody this by including different social groups of a form of identity and this will then lead to the audience understanding the equality of social groups. The ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement is currently vast in the media and our lives; therefore, I have chosen to represent this in my magazine. By including this in my magazine, it connotates the power and importance of black lives and shows that they should not be treated differently to other races. The countertype of the colour white is that it represents purity, my front cover for one of the issues is black, this is because I want to send a message to the audience that black can also suggest integrity and pleasure. Also, for my second social group I have chosen to signify gender by using both male and female with different ages. This is important because it disregards the stereotype of genders not having the same opportunity (in work life or home life) and It shows that they are equivalent no matter if young or old. In addition, it helps contribute to the distinguish of the current architypes which is that males are masculine and risk takers while females are feminine and timid. The target audience for my magazine is aimed from the age sixteen and above. This magazine will relate to previous media texts produced by the Weekly Times as it will include the same three contents (national, environmental, international). I expect to meet the target audience expectations by being apathetic, I will do this by convincing them that the subject matters. I intend to use informational texts, so they will be able to learn, this is part of what the audience requires. Also, my magazine consists of key media language which will communicate meaning for everyone. My research has impacted my planning decisions in all aspects of the magazine, including the website. My magazine is published weekly so I had to set an appropriate price tag as I will mostly have repeat customers. My target audience suggested that £1.99 would be suitable to be able to buy weekly as

My second product is creating a current affairs website to link with the magazine. The main page will show a representation of religion and race. Although, the main concept of the current topic was to inform news about covid-19, I have decided to use a model who is an asian muslim. This is due to the fact that many muslims suffer from the media and are currently being connotated negatively. They are being alienated by society and are stereotyped as terrorists because of ISIS. Therefore, I wanted to represent muslims so it becomes increasingly aware that they have the same fundamengal values to protect Britain and our society and that they deserve equality too. A second representation that I will be reinforcing is gender and age. This is because I wanted to show how social issues such as racism affacts both male and females regardless of their age. Therefore, my front cover will include a boy and a girl with different races holding hands. The intended action of this is to spread equality and unity. The purpose of graphic media language in my website will allow me to communicate visually and help the consumers percieve and comprehend the visible signs. For example, the colours and fonts i use will be able to set the mood across and also my voice of tone will denotate my opinion on certain matters. The consumers will be able to gather what my ideology is and what my intended representations are. This shows the importance of visual language as the viewers are able to recieve signals and transfrom them into emotions and thoughts. As well as graphic media languge, I will include audio visual language. The motive of this is so that viwers feel connected and attached to the ideologies across the range of topics. Also, it helps create a text that conforms with a specific genre. This is because it conveys beliefs, information and entertainment. Genres give audiences pleasure because they are predictable. Therefore, my ideologies will be clear throughout the website, I will reinforce this by repetition. My content may be seen as left wing Liberal beliefs as I don't gree with the conservative political views. Hence why my content will include articles on technology, science and the environment rather than issues regarding immigration.

The synergy between print and online marketing has many benefits. To exceed in marketing, it is vital to have both print and online content to maximise the amount of attention to the magazine from advertising efforts. In addition, it helps boost brand recognition locally as well as globally because online networking can reach and attract customers all over the world. My magazine will be consistent in the brand design, this will allow the brand to become established. I will do this by keeping the same fonts and layout between the website and magazine, therefore customers will be able to recognise the brand name.
