GEORGIA DODSWORTH
Survey
To gather more information about my target audience I created a google forms survey to get a
better understanding of my target audience. From my survey I received 13 responses which I
believe is a good number of responses to get a range of responses. As seen in the brief, the target
audience for this project is 15–20-year-olds. . In this age category 75% of people have started to
develop a mental illness by the age of 15 but will progress up to the age of 19.
For my first question i asked for the target audiences age to gain
a better understanding on who my target audience is. From this
question I found that:
30.8% are 16
38.5% are 17
30.8% are 18
From this I can see that a large percentage of my target audience
is 17 while people who are 16 and 18 are equal. This allows me
to target my campaign more accurately.
For my second question, I asked how often do you get stressed,
as you can see from my results 50% said the get stressed . From
this question I found that:
33.3% are almost always stressed
50% are often stressed
16.7% are sometimes stressed
This has given me a range of responses on how often people
get, with this question I can also link it to further questions I
asked about why do my target audience get stressed.
For my third question I asked if my target audience had heard of mind
61.5% have heard of the charity mind
23.1% had not heard of mind
15.4% said they may have heard of the charity mind.
This allows me to gain a better understanding on who has heard of the
mental health charity or who may need to gain a better understanding
on what they do. It will also allow me to know if I need to add more
information about Mind and what they do in my campaign so they
know what Mind is
For this question I asked for my target audiences gender, this will allow me
to understand what their gender is and how I will cater my campaign to
them. From this question I found out that
53.8% are female
46.2% are male
When making this question I also had to take other genders into
consideration as the campaign is not targeted to any specific gender or
orientation, so I added a prefer not to say in case they were uncomfortable
saying and an other option. However, no one in my target audience
answered either of them options.
In this question I asked my target audience about their employment
status. From asking this question I found out that
69.2% are employed
30.8% are unemployed
By asking this I can now also link it to further questions as why people
may be feeling stressed. I can also now add or take away part of my
campaign as someone who is unemployed might not understand if
someone is only suffering from stress due to their job, compared to
someone who is employed and is stressed because of that. This would
mean I may only be targeting some of my target audience rather than
including everyone.
In this question I asked my target audience what form of education
they were in or if they were in any form of education. From asking this
I found out that
84.6% are in College
7.7% are in University
7.7% are in Sixth form
By asking this I have learned that the majority of my target audience
attend college and only a small percentage attend university and sixth
form. In this question I also added an option where they could say
that they weren’t in education, but no one who answered the survey
answered with that.
For this question I asked if my target audience got stressed over their
workplace. From this question I found out that
46.2% do get stressed due to work
30.8% may get stressed sometimes due to work
23.1% don’t get stressed due to work
I believe this is an important question to ask as I find out why some
people may be stressed or one of the reasons why they are stressed. It
also connects to past questions that I asked about if they were
employed or not.
For this question I asked if my target audience took part in any
exercise. From this question I found out that
30.8% almost never take part in exercise
15.4% rarely take part in exercise
38.5% sometimes take part in exercise
15.4% often take part in exercise
By taking part in exercise it is believed to improve your mental health
by improving your physical fitness. This is also a helpful question to
ask because I can now see that a lot of my target audience is not
interested in fitness, so this will allow me to alter my campaign if
needs be to allow them to be more interested in my campaign.
In this question I asked how easily do my target audience get stressed/
anxious. From this question I found out that
38.5% almost always get stressed/ anxious easily
30.8% often get stressed/ anxious easily
23.1% sometimes get stressed/ anxious easily
7.7% never get stressed/ anxious easily
By asking this question I get to see how much of my target audience can
get stressed/ anxious easy, and by the results I can see that a large
percentage get stressed or anxious easy almost all the time. However
there is a small percentage that say they never get stressed. From this I
also may be able to link it back to previous questions I have asked about
their levels of stress and how its caused.
