 Being present and participating in class is essential to
succeeding in this course
 Attendance taken at the beginning of each class
 Attendance and participation is graded
 Granted 2 excused absences
 Contact me before class if you will be absent
 Perfect attendance will be rewarded with one
dropped quiz or journal score

 No laptops
 iPads, Notes, Kindles, etc. are okay
 No sleeping in class
 Speak respectfully
 Bring a snack, not a feast

 10 online journals at 10 points each
 Detailed instructions can be found on Blackboard
under the “Assignments” tab on the left sidebar
 Journal must be written in Blackboard
 Go to “Tools” on the sidebar
 Select “Journal”
 You will have one group project due Week Fifteen
 Your group will be assigned Week Thirteen
 “Assignments” will include the following:
 All short essay drafts (Outlines, intros, rough drafts…)
 A ghost writing project
 A mini paper
Group Project and Assignments
 Quizzes will be over:
 MLA
 APA
 Reading retention
 Mechanics test in Week Eight
 I will not give pop quizzes
Quizzes and Mechanics Test
 Assignments are to be submitted by the beginning of
class on the due date.
 If a work is to be submitted to dropbox it must be
electronically delivered by the beginning of class on
the due date.
 Work will not be accepted for full credit after the due
date
 10% deduction from final grade for each week after the
due date
 No late work will be accepted after Week Fifteen

 A course calendar in the syllabus maps out the
entire semester
 It includes:
 In class activities
 Due dates for assignments
 What to bring to class
 What to submit to dropbox
 Page numbers for independent reading
 You can also see due dates under the “Calendar”
feature on Blackboard
