Context matters!
Different complex situations require different entry points for support.
Do we understand the complex context of the city/space?
www.mesopartner.com 5
Context considerations

– Different realities
– Different complex interrelations between people
– Different behaviour patterns
– Different belief systems

Matrix of the 4 kinds of spaces
 Simplified model to
– reflect on different characteristics
– Identify different dynamics and intervention requirements
– Promote the reflection on targeted initiatives for change
Different interventions are required
in different environments !
Strong physical infrastructure
and supporting institutions
Sustained
growth
Stagnation
or Decline
Declining
territory
Thriving
territory
Marginalised
territory
Emerging
territory
Weak physical infrastructure
and supporting institutions
Different
complex
environments
require
different
approaches!
One-fits all
solutions will
not tackle
key
challenges !
Thank you for the rich reflection!
