Team C & D chose to create an installation about surveillance and the future of war and defense. Their installation would feature a checkpoint with CCTV cameras, a scanning area that uses lights and sounds to simulate security screening, and video projections relating to surveillance on wrapped walls and televisions. They planned to design the space to feel claustrophobic and high-tech to explore themes of an increasingly surveillance-focused society and its defenses.

- 2. • Selected Ministry of War and Defense • Looked into themes of surveillance • How War and Defense in the future will just be surveillance • This lead to look into: – Information gathering – Surveillance state • We decided to create a check point featuring CCTV, a checkpo- int and projections of other video surveillance. • As well as creating brand for the future party, with logo and posters

- 5. • Using cables we’ll wrap walls in patterns of geometry • The cables will guide people down stairs • The nexus of cables will start at the top of the stairs • Connecting around the projector, CCTV cameras • Then finally down to the check point
- 6. • We plan to project map on to a television screens • The video will be mix of footage from cameras and videos relating to surveillance, such as the terrain map of the area Projections • We plan to paint some of the screens white • We also plan project a video of moving binary code up the stairs

CCTV • Installation will feature 2 CCTV cameras that will follow people as they enter space • The CCTV cameras will be made from servos and Playstation Eyes • We’ll design a box around • The camera software will run a computer and will detect movement • While an Arduino connected to this computer will trigger the Servos

- 9. • We plan to make the space claustrophobic and high tech looking • The checkpoint will have a scanner space, that will flash a light over people when they ever • It also emit humming sound while doing this • At random the light will flash red, as if something wrong with person • The floor in scan area will trigger this when they step into the space • Then an Arduino connected to a computer will trigger the sound and lights
