• #29: Script: A primary functionality that Unified Data Protection brings is an enhanced merge process. Previously the merge process ran on production machines that were backed up with D2D. Merging is a resource intensive process that negatively impacted the production machine, causing it to run inefficiently. This process is now streamlined, more efficient and processes on the Recovery Point Server instead of the production machine, thereby freeing up the protected machine to function more efficiently. There are various back end technologies at play here as well that have enabled us to greatly speed up the processes involved which results in drastically faster merge processes. The benefits of this are two fold: The merge process no longer runs on the production machine so the it runs more efficiently, and the merge process itself is now drastically faster than it was in the past so the overall backup process is quicker.
