- 2. Technology is great in the aspect that it offers many different ways to communicate. There is email, iChat, Skype, and Google Docs as well as many more. More than two people can be included in an email instead of holding a huge meeting in a board room that would take time out of the day and schedule; it can make lives more balanced. A group can work on a project within Google Docs without having to meet up, technology makes things very flexible.
- 3. That being said I do think that technology has many cons. A lot of personal time is interrupted by texts and the one-on-one time often feels like it’s not as personal as it should be; it can leave people feeling isolated and technology does not come off as professional at all. Technology has suppressed social skills because everything can be done without meeting face to face. Technology eliminates social cues and what body language is telling us.
- 5. In the classroom, I think technology is important to use if a student needs to do research on a particular subject. Accessing an online encyclopedia or .edu sites is very quick and easy. The visual aid that technology presents is also a huge pro in the classroom. The students can pick up quicker and altogether just “get it” easier. I think that if a teacher incorporates technology a little more that the students will be more interested and will therefore be more excited about coming to school. However I think it is important to enforce that technology can only be used at certain times in school.
