INTRODUCTION
The prevalence of technology drastically affects many areas of
society in positive ways, including education.
Modern-day students not only have computers to help them
with their schoolwork, they also use the Internet for research.
Teachers also use technology to enhance their lessons
WAYS IN WHICH TECHNOLOGY SUPPORTS
EDUCATION
If a school's library is outdated or lacking in a selection of titles, a
student might find it difficult to compile the necessary research for
an essay or research paper.
In such cases students can search for the help of technologies
like Internet and digital encyclopedias to obtain the research they
need.
When schools in different parts of the state, country or world
connect, students can "meet" their counterparts through video
conferencing without leaving the classroom
 In younger grades, teachers expose children to computers through
educational games.
Instead of playing board games that focus on education, students can
learn the basics of spelling, counting and other early educational lessons
through computer games that make learning fun.
Technology supports the distance education system. Students can take
courses over the Internet at their convenience.
Students can use the Internet to virtually attend Web seminars put on by
EFFECTS OF TECHNOLOGY ON CLASSROOM AND STUDENTS
Improvement of Technical skills
Accomplishment of More Complex Tasks
More Collaboration with Peers
Increased Motivation and Self Esteem
Increased use of Outside Resources
Improved Design skills and Attention to Audience
THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS
Due to excessive use of online chatting and shortcuts, the writing skills
of today’s young generation have declined quite tremendously. These
days, children are relying more and more on digital communication that
they have totally forgot about improving their writing skills. They don’t
know the spelling of different words, how to use grammar properly or
how to do cursive writing.
Studies have shown that net-based readers are less able to determine
what is and is not a valid source and are less skilled in critical reading and
thinking.
The negative effect of technology in a classroom is that it can take away
valuable learning time, it can be overused, and it can also turn
CONCLUSION
Technology is a valuable and versatile tool for teaching and learning. It
can act as an individual tutor and a valuable tool for a struggling
learner. But all the negative aspects of technology should be also
considered before switching on to the so-called Smart classes and Hi-tech
education system. It should be used to enhance the education by
engaging students into higher order thinking skills and not as a
substitute for teaching.
We should always remember:
Science is a good servant but a bad master…!!!!!
