PowerPoint invented in 1987
By 2000 it is ubiquitous
2001 Seth Godin publishes . . .42
Do you suffer from . . . Slidementitus?43
Do your slides contain mostly bullet points?
Do you have more than 12-15 words on a slide?
Do your slides add little or no new info beyond what you can say in words?
Are your slides, in fact, not memorable?
Do your slides fail to encourage a deeper connection to or understanding of the topic?44
A "Yes" to any of those could be a huge red flag that something's wrong. If you're still committed to slides, or if you're certain you need them, here's my favorite overall recommendation:45
Put each slide on trial for its life. Ask it to defend itself. Show no mercy46
Or maybe...just maybe, it is you who needs a refresher in the principles of good presentation design.47
Plan in Analog Mode48

Handouts Can Set You Free52
1. Slides the audience will see53
2. Notes only you will see54
3. Handout to be taken away55
56
57Time for an ExerciseHow are your existing presentations out of kilter? How are they in synch? What questions should yoube having?

Preparation61
Create a document not a Slidument62
63Modality Principle. People learn better when words are presented as narration rather than text.
64Redundancy Principle. People learn better from narration & graphics rather than narration, graphics, & text.
65Too much slide information overloads people’s cognitive systems.
66Can your visuals be understood in 3 seconds? If not, redesign them to support your talk.123
67Slide design & delivery must help people organize, integrate information.
Tip #1Start with a great design template68

When you are trying to choose a Podiatrist you will find that it is much like choosing any kind of Doctor. You will have to take your time and check out the possibilities with care to ensure that you are getting the right specialist for you. It is always a good idea to choose one that has a membership in the American Podiatric Medical Association or the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. You can do many things to find the correct Doctor for you. You can ask your family physician for a referral to a good Podiatrist. BEFORE81

Tip #4Always use visuals and graphics83
Visuals Increase Retention	The human brain processes visuals 400,000 times faster than text. Visual aids have been found to improve learning by up to 40%. Source: Knowledge Industry Publications, 199884
Where can I get good visuals?85
