ExperimentNo- 01
ExperimentName: To accessing remote computers by use Telnet.
Objective:
 To learn about Telnet TCP/IP protocol.
 To learn about Telnet that how to use to access remote computers.
Telnet:
Telnet is a user command and an underlying TCP/IP protocol for accessing remote computers.
Through Telnet, an administrator or another user can access someone else's computer remotely.
On the Web, HTTP and FTP protocols allow you to request specific files from remote computers,
but not to actually be logged on as a user of that computer. With Telnet, you log on as a regular
user with whatever privileges you may have been granted to the specific application and data on
that computer.
RIP Routing configuration:
Before access the Telnet protocol first of all we should need configure network. In fig-01 I create
the topology with three router & three switch. When I connect router to router I use Serial DCE
(Data Communications Equipment) cable. DCE means forwarding point of a communication
session. I also give the network name respectively A, B, C, D, & E & their address are-
A – 172.16.0.0/27
B – 172.16.32.0/27
C – 172.16.64.0/27
D – 172.16.96.0/27
E – 172.16.128.0/27
Basically these network address are sub-netting from the main IP address of 172.16.0.0. I also give
the name of these three router respectively R1, R2, & R3. Then I configure the topology with RIP
routing following the below procedure
In Router R1:
R1(config)#router rip
R1(config-router) version 2
R1(config-router)#network 172.16.0.0
R1(config-router)#network 172.16.64.0
R1(config-router)# no auto-summary
In Router R2:
R2(config)#router rip
R2(config-router) version 2
R2(config-router)#network 172.16.0.0
R1(config-router)#network 172.16.32.0
R2(config-router)#network 172.16.96.0
R2(config-router)# no auto-summary
In Router R3:
R3(config)#router rip
R3(config-router) version 2
R3(config-router)#network 172.16.32.0
R3(config-router)#network 172.16.128.0
R3(config-router)# no auto-summary
After configure the RIP routing then I through the message successfully; which show in following
below figure.
All message are through successful.
Fig: 01
Now we need configure among three router within same command to access remote computer by
use Telnet protocol. The commands are following below
R1(config)#line vty 0 15
R1(config-line)#password darul_karar(anything)
R1(config-line)#login
R1(config-line)#enable secret darul_makam(anything)
As same procedure we should configure the router R2 & R3.
After configure these command now need to access the Telnet. So first I down the fa 0/0 port of
R3 router & following below fig is show it
In router R3 Fa 0/0 port is now down
Fig: 02
Now I up the port of Fa 0/0 in router R3 by use Telnet on PC0. To access Telnet first need to go
on command promote mode. Then need to type “telnet & serial address”. Those all of instruction
show in following below fig
In router R3 Fa 0/0 port is now up
Fig: 03
Finally I successfully done experiment.
