The ECOWAS Small-Scale Hydro Power Program runs from 2013 to 2018 to promote small-scale hydro power (<30MW) in ECOWAS countries. It aims to develop 35 small hydro power projects by 2018 to increase energy access. The program is managed by ECREEE and partners like UNIDO to support project development, capacity building, and improve national policies and stakeholder coordination. Expected results by 2018 include 5 operational demonstration projects, 2 refurbished projects, 10 companies providing small hydro services, and improved understanding of barriers to support the sector's growth.
