I will be
discussing,
enigma,
editing, sound
and the target
audience.
THE THING
PART 2
 One part of the narrative/plot which is left unanswered is how
the creature that has been found is able to take control and
able to imitate its preys cells. The audience is left puzzled as
the creature quickly takes control and causes chaos which
engages the audience and makes them want to watch the
whole films.
 A missing element which the audience is left to guess is
whether the creature is able to take over all the human or if
they were able to fight back using elements such as fire. We
see that the creature was able to cause pain and damage to
those around by using its abilities which would be explained in
the film.
ENIGMA
 The trailer starts off slow paced which means the audience is
able to process the information that is being said about a
specimen that was found in Antarctica. The trailer then takes
a sudden turn when danger arises which makes the editing
become quicker creating more suspense and drama.
 The types of edits and transitions used are eye line match.
This allows the audience to view what the character on screen
is experiencing this is associated with continuity editing. The
second type of editing used is shot reverse shot which is
mostly used in conversation. This allows us to see the
interaction between the characters.
EDITING
 The main sound track that is used through out the whole
trailer is slow with dramatic aspects which reflect the cold.
This soundtrack creates a suspenseful atmosphere as its
mainly used when a discover is done.
 They use voiceovers to share the tag line as well as emphasis
the dangers they are facing. The voiceovers are done by the
man see below. Through out the trailer he shows the audience
that he has authority as he is the person who decides to break
into the ice to investigate it although others did not agree.
This character gives us a negative impression as he does not
like working in a team and believes he is superior to the other
workers.
SOUND
 In my opinion, the target audience for this films would be
young adults, however, this film is in the genre of science
fiction and horror which may attract teenagers as well as
adults the watching the film.
 From several reviews from the audience it has been suggested
that the film should be rated at age +15. This has been put
forward by both parents and children as seen below. This shows
that the audience agree with the films age classification.
 Overall, the reviews of the film have been positive although
some have mentioned that the film is not scary and very
gruesome.
